WATCOM ANNOUNCES WATCOM VX-REXX VERSION 2.1, AND VX-REXX CLIENT/SERVER
EDITION

Client/Server Edition Incorporates Database Connection Objects

WATERLOO, Ontario, Canada, July 19, 1994 -- Watcom International, a
subsidiary of Powersoft Corp. announced today at OS/2 World new versions
of VX-REXX, Watcom's visual application builder for OS/2. The new VX-REXX
Version 2.1 features numerous performance enhancements and drag-and-drop
programming capabilities. With this release, Watcom introduces the
VX-REXX Client/Server Edition, which brings VX-REXX's ease of use to
client/server GUI application development on OS/2 by incorporating
database objects. Using the new connection, query and charting objects,
VX-REXX Client/Server Edition users can quickly access several databases,
manipulate data and chart results. Using DDCS/2 and the DRDA protocol
users can access DB2/2, DB2 for MVS, SQL/DS for VM and VSE, and SQL/400
for OS/400. Also supported are Watcom SQL for OS/2 and ODBC-enabled
databases.

"The Client/Server Edition adds rich visual capabilities for designing
database queries and building client/server database applications for
OS/2," said Ian McPhee, president of Watcom. "Its support for a range of
popular databases is consistent with our commitment to open tools. One of
the keys to the success of the Client/Server Edition will be its support
for IBM's popular DB2 family of products."

"We use DB2/2 extensively, so the ease of use features offered by Watcom
VX-REXX Client/Server Edition are important to our work," said John Fair
of USAir. "The objects make queries and graphs extremely easy to
manipulate. If you need to build OS/2 applications that access numerous
databases, VX-REXX Client/Server is the perfect tool."

In Watcom's VX-REXX Client/Server Edition, users can visually generate and
test SQL queries through point-and-click and drag-and-drop interactions.
Objects such as entry fields and push buttons can be bound directly to a
record or cursor in the database for direct data connectivity.

With the database administrator users can easily create new databases,
define tables and set the column types and relationships. The charting
capabilities include more than a dozen chart types with over 150 display
options, drag-and-drop programming and complete support for run-time
events.
