Weitek Announces POWER 9100 Design Wins With RasterOps and VideoLogic

Sunnyvale, CA--June 27, 1994--Weitek today announced two design wins for
its POWER 9100, a new 64-bit graphics accelerator from RasterOps
Corporation's Truevision subsidiary, and PCIMovie, a graphics acceleration
board from VideoLogic, Inc., will use the POWER 1900 to provide PC users
with high performance, TV-quality video playback.

Truevision's ColorImpact Pro 1000

ColorImpact Pro 1000 represents RasterOps' first high-end graphics
controller for PC platforms. ColorImpact Pro 1000's design is based on the
POWER 9100 and provides 64-bit acceleration for both VLB and PCI versions.
The Pro 1000 displays a maximum resolution of 65,000 colors at 1600 x 1200
resolution with it true color capability (16.7 million colors) at 1280 x
1024 screen resolution with full acceleration.

"The Weitek POWER 9100 was a logical choice for our Truevision ColorImpact
Pro 1000," said Jan Fradin, director of product marketing at RasterOps.
"With ColorImpact Pro 1000, the ColorImpact Pro 1000 provides full 24-bit
true color at higher screen resolutions for an aggressive
price/performance ratio."

VideoLogic's PCIMovie

PCIMovie combines the POWER 9100, VideoLogic's PowerPlay32 digital movie
accelerator and the VESA Media Channel for PCI local bus PC users. The
POWER 9100 graphics controller gives PCIMovie its high speed Windows
acceleration. PCIMovie supports 24-bit true color for photo realistic
images and resolutions up to 1280 x 1024 for extra space on the desktop.
2MB of high performance VRAM are standard on the board.

PCIMovie provides support for the industry standard VMC (VESA Media
Channel) with an on-board connector that ensures easy, low cost
expandability. VMC is a dedicated video data connection between
peripherals and graphics subsystems, and the VMC architecture ensures
modular upgradability to all future VMC-compliant multimedia
functionality.

"VideoLogic chose Weitek's POWER 9100 for its industry leading PCIMovie
because it is simply the best available," stated Mel Jackson, product
manager at VideoLogic, Inc. "The combination of the POWER 9100,
VideoLogic's PowerPlay 32 and VMC ensures an extremely fast accelerator
that allows for future expansion into more multimedia options.

Jackson continued, "VideoLogic has been working closely with Weitek to
ensure that these two chips are completely compatible and offer the finest
solution for extremely high quality, full motion, full screen movie
playback and ultra-fast graphics acceleration."

"Now customers of RasterOps and VideoLogic can get higher video performance
and more features, such as 24-bit true color 1280 x 1024 screen
resolutions, at a very competitive price," said Tim Propeck, vice
president of sales and marketing at Weitek Corporation. "Weitek will
continue to bring workstation-class graphics performance to more PC
users."

The Weitek POWER 9100 is a 64-bit bandwidth, fully-integrated graphics
accelerator which provides a single-chip true color solution for the
professional desktop. With four megabytes of VRAM memory, the POWER 9100
can run fully-accelerated 24-bit true color at screen resolutions as high
as 1280 x 1024 with WinBench 3.11 WinMarks in excess of 37 million on a
Pentium 66 MHz processor. On a single chip, the digital video-ready POWER
9100 also integrates SVGA functionality and VESA VL and Intel PCI local
bus circuitry-replacing previous discrete logic implementations.

RasterOps will be exhibiting Truevision's ColorImpact Pro 1000 at PC Expo
in Booth 925.
