Traveling Software's LapLink Remote Access To Be Bundled With the New AST
Ascentia 500S Subnotebooks and 800N Value Notebooks

BOTHELL, Wash., August 15, 1994 -- Traveling Software today announced that
LapLink Remote Access will be pre-loaded on AST's new Ascentia 500S
subnotebook and 800N value notebook. LapLink Remote Access enables users
to access remote drives and printers over a serial cable, modem or
wireless connection.

"The new AST Ascentia models provide a comprehensive mobile computing
solution with the latest in lightweight ergonomic design and LapLink
Remote Access communication software," said Mark Eppley, chairman and CEO

The new AST Ascentia 500S has an Intel 486SX 33MHz processor, standard
3.5"- external floppy drive and support for two Type II PCMCIA cards. The
new ergonomic design is 7.7" (d) x 10.4" (w) x 1.5" (h) and has a
full-size display and keyboard-forward design with integrated 19mm
centered trackball for users looking for minimum weight and size combined
with maximum usability and functionality. The AST Ascentia 500S is
available through AST's authorized resellers with estimated sales prices
beginning at $2,299.

The new Ascentia 800N value notebook has an Intel DX2 50MHz processor,
professional-level graphics with local bus hardware accelerated graphics
and a removable floppy drive doubles as a second battery bay for up to six
hours of computing. The ergonomic design has an integrated 19mm trackball
in a keyboard-forward design. The AST Ascentia 800N value notebook is
available through AST's authorized resellers with estimated sales prices
beginning at $2,349.

LapLink Remote Access will be pre-installed on the new AST Ascentia models,
and will ship with documentation.
