Another First for Conflict Catcher II

First Start-up File Manager to run Native on the Power Macintosh is System
7.5 Savvy

Salinas California, August 1, 1994, Casady & Greene, Inc. announced the
release of version 2.1.2 of MacUser Magazine Eddy award finalist for best
utility, Conflict Catcher II. Version 2.1.2, which will ship August 15,
1994, runs Native on the Power Macintosh and is System 7.5 Savvy.

Casady & Green's Director of Q&A Donald Beirdneau states: " We are
committed to supporting the technological advances in the Macintosh. The
speed, increased functionality and power rich environment offered by the
marriage of the Power PC processor and System 7.5 combined with Conflict
Catche II's unique features can only increase the capabilities of an
already excellent machine. Conflict Catcher II addresses many of the
issues that arise with this new technology."

With the advent of the Power Macintosh and Native software applications,
come compatibility questions and problems caused by non-Native start-up
files. These non-Native programs create patches to Power Macintosh Native
code that could adversely affect machine performance. Conflict Catcher II
detects these patches as Apple Computer's benchmark testing sites can
attest:

"We are one of 21 extended test sites that Apple Computer chose for the new
Apple Power Macintosh. The first test we performed with it was installing
all of our "Mission Critical" applications, Inits, and Cdevs on the Power
Macintosh....Apple Computer couriered Conflict Catcher II to us and it was
able to pinpoint those INITs and Cdevs which were causing performance
hits. If you have a Power Macintosh, we recommend Conflict Catcher II as a
preventative and diagnostic tool," states Mr. John M. Hickey, Jr.,
Microcomputer Consultant at Oberlin College Computing Center.

One of the features that Conflict Catcher II offers the user, and that
proved invaluable for the Apple seed sites, is its unique conflict testing
ability. It walks the user through a unique conflict test which disables
compatible startup software until only the problem startup file(s) remain.
Conflict Catcher II tests existing startup software and font files without
relying on databases that constantly need updating. Some of the seed sites
are using Conflict Catcher II to manage startup software so that future
problems do not occur.

At another Apple Macintosh seed site, David Weinstein, MIS Director,
Perkins, Smith & Cohen, states, "I have been using Conflict Catcher II on
the Power Macintosh (seed copy) for a couple of weeks now. I have found it
useful both as an extension manager, and to identify INITs which patch the
System .... At one point in my Power Macintosh test I started crashing and
didn't know why. Using Conflict Catcher II, I was able to identify the
problem in six restarts, which took less than a half hour. Without
Conflict Catcher II, it could very well have taken six days to solve the
problem. This is an excellent product and I highly recommend it for Power
Macintosh users."

Conflict Catcher II is fully localized in Japan and distributed by Hulinks
Inc. ,Tokyo.
