News International Launches Delphi Online Service in United Kingdom

Delphi Internet, one of America's fastest growing consumer online services,
is to be formally launched in the United Kingdom on July 18, bringing the
benefits of the global information highway to British consumers.

The Delphi service will offer news headlines and specialised content from
The Times and The Sunday Times, as well as full access to the Internet
global information and communications network and the vast online
resources of the US Delphi service.

"The launch of Delphi in Britain will provide personal computer users with
a new dimension in interactive entertainment, information management and
communications," said Gus Fischer, chief executive of News International.

"Our Delphi subscribers in the United States are already in the fast lane
of the digital highway," he said. "Now the same powerful and easy to use
information service is to be available here, enhanced with special
features that will make it particularly appealing and fascinating to
British consumers. "

A cornerstone of the Delphi service is easy access to the Internet, the
global "network of networks" that currently links more than 30m people
worldwide. With an estimated two new users joining it every second, the
Internet is the fastest-growing communications medium in history. Delphi
will also offer a wide range of content tailored specially to the
interests of British customers. This will include special interest areas
and forums developed for Delphi by The Times and The Sunday Times and by a
large and growing number of independent publishers and content providers.

Delphi access is available from 10 Pounds a month and there is no joining
fee. New subscribers are given five free hours of connect time to acquaint
themselves with the service.

"Our service plans offer unparalled flexibility and economy to both light
and heavy users," said Stephen Kirk, chief executive of Delphi Internet
Ltd.
"With our easy access to the Internet, distinctive UK content and full
access to Delphi US services, Delphi will be the best online service
value in the UK today."

Using Delphi, consumers will be able to:

- Read news headlines from The Times, and then comment on the
news in a new online Times forum.
- Retrieve hundreds of free software programmes, including
  productivity packages and games.
- Gain access to all of the Internet's capabilities, including
the ability to instantaneously exchange electronic mail with
  every other Internet user.
- Connect to more than 6,000 specialised Internet bulletin
boards, covering every conceivable range of interests, from
entertainment and politics to sport and travel.
- Link into millions of computer sites worldwide, to obtain
  specialised information and software.
- Join in one of hundreds of channels of worldwide real-time
  conversations, using Internet Relay Chat.

communications centre has been built at Camden Lock in north London.

The Delphi service can be accessed via a local telephone call from more
than 100 UK "points of presence" including all major cities.
