Engineering Software releases HYDROFLO 2
- Parallel and Series Pump Analysis Software -

August 3, 1994 -- Truckee, CA--Engineering Software has released HYDROFLO 2
- a major upgrade of the popular software tool for analysis of parallel
and series pumping systems. HVAC, process, fire sprinkler, civil,
mechanical and hydraulic engineers all use this software to analyze the
operation of fluid piping systems. Pump manufacturers and sales
representatives use HYDROFLO to confirm proper pump application.

"The most important feature of this upgrade are the databases. With the
easy-to-use interface an engineer can quickly select the liquid type, pipe
schedules, fittings, valves, control valves and other devices. The
engineer then specifies the pump's type - centrifugal, positive
displacement, etc. Now, with the system defined, HYDROFLO determines the
operating point and searches its database for appropriate pumps. Many
manufacturers have their pumps in the database and users can include the
pumps they use." Brian Haulman, President.

An analysis of a liquid transport system by HYDROFLO will determine if
design changes would produce valuable energy and material savings.
Engineers can easily edit the liquid, pump, pipe and unit databases,
adding items that they use in their work. The User's Manual includes many
application examples. HYDROFLO comes with 30 day money-back guarantee and
free technical support. Demo disks are available.

HYDROFLO 2 - Parallel and Series Pump Analysis Software

HYDROFLO 2 allows hydraulic design engineers to easily describe and solve
fluid conveyance systems for steady-state pressures and flows. The user
interface is simple and intuitive. All features are available using a
mouse. Engineers simply layout system elements as they occur. Default
values appear based on pipe and fluid selections. Any incompressible fluid
can be modeled using the Darcy-Wiesbach equation. Water systems are
modeled using the Hazen-Williams equation. The equivalent length method
models fitting and valve head losses in non-water systems. HYDROFLO has a
limit of 500 elements (pipes, valves & fittings), 500 nodes, 10 pumps in
series or parallel and 50 flow versus head devices.

HYDROFLO 2 solves many types of pump and gravity flow problems:

* Validation of existing systems. Once a system is accurately
modeled (calibrated), simulation of proposed system alterations
  can be performed.
* Modeling a proposed system's operation.
* Determination of head losses at a specific flow rate
  (forced flow system).
* Analysis of NPSH (Net Positive Suction Head)
  available vs. required.
* Determination of the best pump(s) for a system at a specified
  design flow and NPSHA.
* Comparison of equivalent metric to English unit designs.
* Modeling of recirculating and gravity flow systems.

Once a system is fully defined and solved, results include:

* Flows, velocities and head losses for all elements.
* Pressures, hydraulic grade lines (HGL) and flows at all nodes.
* Pump, HGL and system curve plots with operating points.
* Pump results: NPSHA vs. NPSHR, specific speeds, brake
  horsepower and Kilowatt

Reports of system data and results may be sent to files and printers.
Graphic plots (in VGA and SuperVGA modes) can be output to PCX files and
manipulated by graphics software packages.

HYDROFLO databases are customizable. They are in ASCII format and easily
edited using any editor or word processor. The pump database can also be
edited directly with HYDROFLO.

** The pump database contains all pump data. HYDROFLO uses this data when
it selects pumps for specific applications. HYDROFLO will only suggest
pumps that supply the desired design flow and total head required.
Additional criteria of type, features and operating range can be used.
Users may retrieve specific pumps from the database. Various
manufacturers' pumps are included and users can add pumps that they
commonly use. Parameters in the database also include description,
designflow, efficiencies, speed, NPHSR and series data

** The fluid database offers an extensive list of fluid types. Any type of
incompressible fluid may be modeled. Selecting a fluid type retrieves a
fluid's description, temperature, specific gravity, viscosity and vapor
pressure.

** The unit database offers commonly used English and metric units. Any
unit of flow, pressure, length and diameter can be defined and used.

** The pipe specif cation database offers commonly used pipe schedules and
users may add their own. When a specification is selected and a nominal
diameter entered, the actual inside diameter and design friction values
are used as defaults.

Requires: PC/MS-DOS, 640K RAM and 2Mb disk space. Supports all display
adapters including SuperVGA. Graphics output to Epson, Okidata, Tl,
Toshiba and HP LaserJets. Uses math chip if available. All products come
with 30 day money-back guarantees and free technical support. Demo disks
available.
