ASANTE ANNOUNCES NEW POCKET-SIZED ETHERNET-TO-LOCALTALK CONVERTER

Low-Priced Micro AsantePrint Provides Support for Thick, Thin and 10BaseT
Ethernet Cabling

SAN JOSE, Calif., August 15, 1994 -- Asante Technologies, Inc.,
(NASDAQ:ASNT) today announced the Micro AsantePrint, its next generation
Ethernet-to-LocalTalk converter. The compact-sized Micro AsantePrint
connects a maximum of eight LocalTalk devices to a high-speed Ethernet
network and is available at a lower price than competitive products that
featuresupport for only two devices.

"Micro AsantePrint allows us to offer the simplest, Ethernet-to-LocalTalk
converter available to users," said Bruce Stancombe, director of client
access products. "With a solution that is priced less than other popular
two-port products, users are able to cost-efficiently protect investments
previously made in their existing LocalTalk equipment."

The Micro AsantePrint was designed for simple, plug-and-play operation.
Because the unit does not require any installation software, setup time is
reduced to a matter of seconds. The unit's auto-sensing Ethernet ports
automatically detect the type of Ethernet cabling connected (thick, thin
or 10BaseT) and automatically select between AppleTalk Phase I or 2
protocols. This capability eliminates the need to manually set switches.
Furthermore, Micro AsantePrint has no powerup sequence requirements,
allowing unattended recovery from power outages.

Micro AsantePrint ships with AsantePrint Manager managemen software as well
as Advanced Network Security Protocol (ANSP) security software.

AsantePrint Manager monitors network traffic, providing managers with
extensive network statistics for diagnosing performance and error
conditions. It also provides a remote reset capability which lets managers
make configuration adjustments and do trouble-shooting from anywhere on a
network. AsantePrint Manager also assigns Micro AsantePrint and its
attached LocalTalk devices to a specific logical zone on an AppleTalk
Phase 2 network. AppleTalk Phase 1 is also supported.

The ANSP security software protects peripherals from unauthorized or
accidental access by allowing network managers to assign passwords to any
or all of the connected LocalTalk devices.

Full LED display provides specific information on activity such as
receive/transmit and link integrity for both the LocalTalk and Ethernet
networks. A Velcro attachment allows users to connect the unit directly to
the printer, conserving available desktop space.

Micro AsantePrint is available in two configurations: one with AUI, BNC and
RJ45 Ethernet ports for thick, thin coaxial and 10BaseT(unshielded twisted
pair) cabling;the other with AUI and RJ-45 Ethernet ports for thick
and10BaseT cabling. Both configurations include a standard mini DIN-8
LocalTalk connection cable.

Pricing

The Micro AsantePrint is backed by alifetime warranty and will be available
in September 1994. Free technical support is also available.
Single-quantity suggested U.S. list pricing is as follows:

Micro AsantePrint (Thick, Thin and 10BaseT) $429
Micro AsantePrint - 10T (Thick and 10BaseT) $399
