ASANTE NETRAS-REMOTE ACCESS SERVER ADDS TCP/IP PROTOCOL SUPPORT AND
LAN-TO-LAN BRIDGING AND ROUTING

New Software Simplifies Installation and Management

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- September 6, 1994 -- Asante Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ:
ASNT) today announced support for TCP/IP, ARA 2.0 and NetBEUI for its
NetRAS-Remote Access Server as well as LAN-to-LAN bridging and routing.
The new software release version 5.0, which is free to current registered
users, also now comes bundled with AsanteView, the company's SNMP-based
management software at no additional charge. These new capabilities make
the NetRAS-Remote Access Server an extremely competitive and easy to use
solution for remote user connectivity.

"The Asante NetRAS-Remote Access Server now supports the wide range of
network and serial protocols our customers were requesting," said Larry
Goldstein, product manager. "Expanding this product to deliver quality
remote access solutions to a broader group of users is key to our
success."

The Asante NetRAS is a modular, multiprotocol, multi-user remote access
server that gives telecommuters, nomadic users and business travelers
transparent, on-demand access to the corporate network. Remote users can
dial into the network via modem and access all network resources as if
connected locally. The unit has an expandable, modular chassis that
accommodates an 8-port serial module with another slot available for
adding an additional 8-port module as the number of remote users
increases, providing for 16-concurrent sessions.

Release 5.0 Features

o Concurrent multiprotocol support for IP, IPX, AppleTalk and NetBEUI
network protocols via PPP, SLIP and ARA 2.0 allows remote PC, Macintosh
and UNIX workstation users to dial-in to the corporate network through the
same remote access server.

o Dial-up LAN-to-LAN support provides branch office networks an economical
means of connecting to the corporate backbone or to other remote networks.
Through Asante's implementation of Bandwidth-on-Demand, additional dial-up
lines are established when predefined, remote-network traffic bandwidth
thresholds are exceeded. These additional connections are then closed when
traffic levels return to normal. This method of opening up additional
dial-up lines on an as needed basis provides performance, while still
keeping line charges to a minimum.

o Protocol autosensing automatically detects the protocol type of an
incoming connection, eliminating the need for network managers to dedicate
ports to specific protocols.

o AppleTalk Zone Filtering provides an added level of security by allowing
the network administrator to decide which AppleTalk Zones on the corporate
network, remote users can access. By restricting access to certain
AppleTalk Zones, the resources in those networks are protected against
remote intruders.

o Support for Dial-Out now gives LAN-based PC, Macintosh and UNIX
workstations running Telnet the ability to use the modems attached to the
Asante NetRAS for dial-out access to bulletin boards or other remote
resources.

Ease-of-Use Enhancements

Enhancements to the Asante NetRAS-Remote Access Server and to the
AsanteView network management application (available for either Microsoft
Windows or Macintosh platforms) now allow network administrators to easily
configure the Asante NetRAS in as little time as it takes to unwrap the
product and plug it in. AsanteView's graphical user interface lets
administrators visually manage and monitor all aspects of the system such
as user lists, remote user sessions, and remote traffic statistics. Other
management options include support for third-party SNMP platforms, a
console interface that is accessible via the Asante NetRAS console port or
from any Telnet station on the network.

Pricing and Availability

Asante NetRAS Software Version 5.0 is available the end of September. The
