CHILI PEPPER SOFTWARE ANNOUNCES INFINITE DISK 2.0

Hierarchical Storage Management Software Adds Exciting Features For Windows
Users

September 27, 1993 -- ATLANTA - Chili Pepper Software today announced the
availability of a major upgrade to Infinite Disk, a utility that makes the
best use of hard disk space by compressing and/or archiving inactive
files. The new version, Infinite Disk 2.0, adds a number of features that
make the product more valuable to users of Microsoft Windows. New
Windows-based features include: a full Windows user interface, a File
Manager interface, a graphic hard disk analysis tool, and an
auto-scheduler for background file management.

With the latest version of Microsoft Windows taking up approximately 12 MB
of disk space and Windows applications typically demanding 10MB or more of
disk space, most Windows users struggle to keep any room open on their
hard drives. This problem is accentuated in those cases where there is
little hard disk space to work with (eg. portable computers, older
computers, etc.) Compression utilities have become a popular solution, but
they are only a temporary solution since they can only compress data to
half of its original size.

"Infinite Disk is the perfect solution for anyone wanting to use large
applications (like Windows applications) on limited hard disk space," said
Rick Onyon, president of Chili Pepper Software. "With our product, you
never have to think twice about installing a giant software product,
because we will always make more room."

How Infinite Disk Works

Infinite Disk is a powerful software system that automates disk management
chores and substantially increases available hard disk space. With
Infinite Disk, files are automatically compressed and/or relocated based
on how frequently they are used. Files that have not been used for a
specified number of days are compressed in place (Level 1 Migration).
Files that have not been used for a specified number of additional days
are compressed and moved off-line to another device, such as a floppy
diskette, removable hard drive, floptical, or some other cost-effective
media (Level 2 Migration).

Every file migrated by Infinite Disk still appears to be on the local hard
drive, and the PC operates as usual. When a migrated file is accessed, in
any way, it is automatically decompressed or recalled from off-line media
without disturbing the application in use. Simply put, Infinite Disk
reduces or removes files that are never used, and brings them back the
moment you need them - providing virtually infinite disk space.

New Features

Windows User Interface: Chili Pepper Software has added a complete Windows
user interface to Infinite Disk 2.0. The product now has a full complement
of colorful, 3-D icons and buttons that allow the user to manually perform
migrations or set it up so that it is done automatically. With the program
minimized, users can drag-and-drop files from other programs to the
Infinite Disk icon and have the files automatically migrated or recalled.
All automatic and manual migrations are now performed in the background.

File Manager Extensions: To add to its Windows functionality, Infinite Disk
2.0 also has a Windows File Manager interface. This allows Infinite Disk's
migration information to be viewed as part of the regular file information
shown in the file directories. An Infinite Disk menu (with Migration,
Recall, Aging and other commands) has also been added to the File Manager
menu bar for maintenance of selected files.

Graphical Drive Analysis: Chili Pepper has also developed Disk View, a tool
that will help users by graphically displaying how disk space is being
used. Disk View produces the following types of graphs: space by
directory; space by file type; migration statistics; file age analysis;
and compression ratios. This information is displayed using customizable
charts which can be copied to the clipboard and pasted into other
applications, or printed to any Windows graphic printer. These graphs also
have different levels; clicking the mouse on an individual piece of a
directory graph will cause the system to "zoom-in" and perform a full
analysis of the files and subdirectories contained within that piece.
Exact copies of graphs can also be made and changed to simultaneously
display different aspects of the same information.

Windows Migration Scheduler: An auto-scheduler has also been added to the
latest version of Infinite Disk. With this feature, users can bypass daily
file evaluation, establish a set of "rules", and schedule these rules to
be processed at a desired time. For example, users can set up Infinite
Disk to wait until Jan 1, 1994, and archive all documents that have not
been accessed for 365 days. Users can activate, de-activate or reschedule
these events at any time.

DOS & Windows Performance: Tremendous performance enhancements have been
made to most every function of Infinite Disk. Infinite Disk's DOS commands
(AUTOMIG, IDSTATS, AGE, etc.) will now operate as much as 300% faster than
previous versions. Infinite Disk's TSR has been optimized to scan and
update Windows file access date information in milliseconds. The result is
no noticeable slowdown in Windows startup for most users.

Availability, Price and Requirements

Infinite Disk Version 2.0 will be available directly from Chili Pepper
Software for $129 suggested retail on September 27. Users of Infinite Disk
1.0 and 1.1 can upgrade to version 2.0 for $44.95, plus shipping and
handling. Additional releases are in development for OS/2 and QIC-80 tape
support.

Infinite Disk requires an IBM or compatible PC with at least one fixed hard
drive; PC- or MS-DOS, version 4.0 or higher. A Terminate and Stay Resident
(TSR) module occupies 28.3K and may be loaded into high memory. Windows
users will need to run Windows 3.1 in enhanced mode.
