ENTERPRISE SOLUTIONS LIMITED ANNOUNCES A NEW FAMILY OF ELECTRONIC MESSAGING
PRODUCTS

Will Introduce New EXM Mail Line of 1984 and 1988-Compatible X.400 and
X.500 Products at Networld + Interop 94 Atlanta

(Atlanta, Georgia; 12 September 1994)--Enterprise Solutions Limited (ESL),
with headquarters in Westlake Village, California, a provider of complete
X.400/X.500 messaging solutions, unveiled today at Networld + Interop 94 a
whole new family of 1984 and 1988 X.400/X.500 compatible electronic mail
and messaging products.

The new product series, named EXM, or Enterprise Xtended Mail, is available
across all popular platforms: DOS, Windows, Macintosh, Unix character, and
Motif. EXM links geographically dispersed LANs and WANs into a single
network to significantly reduce management and maintenance efforts and
costs. The easy-to-use client/server design combined with native X.400 to
the desktop offers many functional advantages.

1988 X.400 P7 Protocol and Message Store

The P7 protocol and the Message Store, added value features of the 1988
X.400 Message Handling standards, allow a much higher level of
functionality and flexibility than previously available. Users on a LAN
can connect to the Message Store from their desktop; remote users can
access the Message Store asynchronously via a modem. The P7 protocol gives
optimum communications capabilities while minimizing the cost of data
transfer by allowing selective access to messages. Messages can be
composed and submitted on demand, while incoming messages can be held in
the Message Store, and a list obtained showing attributes. The user can
then decide whether to get the message or even delete it from the Message
Store.

Benefits over LAN-based solutions

The increased bandwidth and much higher processing speed of host-based
servers in a client/server environment enable efficient handling of a
higher volume of messages than is possible with LAN-based packages. There
are no limits to the type of text that can be included in an EXM message
-- binary files, spreadsheets, databases, software programs, graphics,
images, voice -- all are delivered to the recipient in their original
format without any additions or alterations.

Security

EXM provides a sophisticated security capability for both sending and
receiving messages. Password security is separated from regular system or
network login, and additional access restrictions can be controlled from
the EXM Administration module. An optional security add-on module provides
an even higher level of security, including options for encryption,
digital signature, and authentication.

Personal and Enterprise-wide Directory Services

EXM incorporates a Directory application program which provides both access
and management of both personal and enterprise-wide Directory databases.
Complex X.400 addresses can be simplified by specifying and referencing
"alias" names, or nicknames, which are used to build a set of mail
distribution lists. The Directory is closely integrated with the Send
application; at the press of a button, a user can gain immediate access to
both the personal and enterprise- wide directories at any time while
composing a message!

In addition to the Directory functionality provided as part of the EXM/UA
(User Agent), Enterprise Solutions also provides complete X.500 Directory
Services, based upon ESL's successful X.500 installations currently in use
worldwide. All of the functions and services needed for white and yellow
pages Directory access are provided by EXM/DIR, a complete directory
searching and administration program based upon the X.500 standard. The
flexible, hierarchical architecture allows the system administrator to
distribute information stored in the database over the entire network.
This makes each component of the database more manageable and increases
performance, while allowing the user to access the system as if all of the
data were stored in a single location.

A Server Solution

Part of the EXM family of messaging products being unveiled are two new
Message Transfer Agents (MTAs). The EXM/DMTA, or Department MTA, is used
at distributed sites and locations, or for small installations. The
EXM/SMTA, or System MTA, is for use in centrally located and high
performance sites. EXM Mail offers a complete client/server messaging
solution which can reduce costs by streamlining business processes.

Pricing and Availability

EXM Mail products will start to ship in early October 1994. Client pricing
begins at under US $50 in quantity; server components start at under US
$1,000. See EXM Mail at Networld + Interop 94 Atlanta at ESL's booth #
6614.
