EXABYTE'S NEW 8mm AUTOMATED TAPE LIBRARY SELECTED TO BACK UP
NETWORLD+INTEROP NETWORK OPERATING CENTER

ATLANTA, Ga., Sept. 12, 1994 -- NetWorld+Interop has selected Exabyte's new
robotic tape library to back up NetWorld+Interop's Network Operating
Center (NOC) which provides computer services to all of the trade show's
500 exhibitors. The EXB-210 8mm Automated Tape Library, incorporating two
EXB-8505XL 8mm Cartridge Tape Drives, has been integrated into the Interop
Net to perform nightly automated backups on the NOC's more than 60
gigabytes of data each of the five days of the show.

"During previous shows, we backed up the NOC by doing manual tape
swapping," said Chris Swanson, system administrator and network security
officer for the NetWorld+Interop NOC. "I was not about to shuffle tapes to
back up 60 gigabytes per night." Swanson predicts that it will take
approximately eight hours to completely back up the NOC each night of the
show.

"We are pleased that the NetWorld+Interop network staff selected our 8mm
library to handle the important, time-consuming task of backing up the
Interop Net NOC on a daily basis," said Mark Canright, Exabyte's senior
vice president of worldwide sales and marketing. "The show's NOC requires
the capacity, reliability and automation that Exabyte's 8mm libraries
provide."

The NetWorld+Interop NOC will use Exabyte's EXB-210 with two Exabyte
EXB-8505XL 8mm tape drives and 10 7-gigabyte tape cartridges to achieve 70
gigabytes of uncompressed storage capacity. The EXB-210 offers a maximum
capacity of 154 gigabytes with compression.

The library, coupled with software from Legato Systems of Palo Alto,
Calif., will completely automate Interop Net's NOC's backup and restore
procedure.

Exabyte Corp. has shipped approximately 14,000 tape libraries, and
accounted for 81 percent of the automated 8mm library market in 1993,
according to Peripheral Strategies of Santa Barbara, Calif.

The EXB-8505XL records 7 gigabytes of uncompressed data at 500 kilobytes
per second. With standard hardware data compression, which typically
doubles capacity and transfer rate, the EXB-8505XL can record 14 gigabytes
of data at 1 megabyte per second.

The NetWorld+Interop NOC comprises 50 workstations. It will provide
services such as Domain Name Services, time services (Network Time
Protocol), Usenet News (Network News Transfer Protocol) and World Wide Web
(a hypertext information retrieval system) to the show's more than 500
vendors to assist them with product demonstrations. The NOC also will
supply network management,- network configuration, database management,
network troubleshooting support and failure detection to the Interop Net.

Headquartered in Boulder, Colo., Exabyte Corp. (NASDAQ: EXBT) designs,
manufactures and markets a full range of tape storage products: 8mm, 4mm
and quarter-inch minicartridge tape drives, tape libraries and recording
media The world's largest independent manufacturer focused solely on tape
