NEC TECHNOLOGIES EXPANDS READY MULTIMEDIA SERIES WITH PENTIUM-BASED
MINI-TOWER COMPUTER

San Jose, Calif., September 6, 1994 -- Building on the success of two
previous generations of Ready multimedia systems, NEC Technologies, Inc.
(NECT) today announced a Pentium Processor-based 60 MHz mini-tower model.
Designed for home users and small businesses, the Ready P60M multimedia
computer combines the power of the Pentium processor from Intel with
high-quality graphics performance, a compact footprint, exceptional
upgradeability and preloaded multimedia software applications.

"Consumers are increasingly interested in high performance home computing
systems that serve the needs of the entire family," said Murali Dharan,
NECT's director of marketing for consumer PCs. "They want multimedia
without the hassle. And they want a powerful system that will accommodate
their future needs. The Ready P60M was developed to meet the needs of
today' s demanding PC consumers."

"Today's home PC users are demanding more and more performance to run the
latest multimedia applications," agreed John Davies, Intel's director of
marketing for home computing. "Only systems based on the Pentium Processor
can deliver the full multimedia experience. We're delighted to see NECT
offering a fully configured, ready-to-run Pentium Processor-based PC to
meet the needs of the consumer."

Multimedia Functionality

The Ready P60M includes a full range of built-in multimedia features for
vivid graphics and powerful multimedia right out of the box. For
high-quality graphics performance, it features an integrated NECT
MultiSpin 3Xi triple-speed CD-ROM reader, NECT's 32-bit PCI local bus
video and 1 MB Video RAM, and 24-bit TrueColor support capable of
producing 16.8 million colors. Audio performance is optimized with a
Creative Labs Sound Blaster 16-bit stereo sound card, Labtec amplified
speakers, and a microphone. In addition to MS-DOS, Microsoft Windows,
America On-Line, and CompuServe, the Ready P60M is also preloaded with
industry-leading multimedia software, including Spinnaker Software's
Multimedia PFS: WindowWorks, a comprehensive multimedia tutorial and over
100 pieces of color clip art.

Superior Expandability

While the Ready P60M is a powerful multimedia system today with its Intel
Pentium 60 MHz processor, 420 MB hard disk drive and 8 MB RAM, it also
offers the utmost in flexibility and expandability to protect the user's
investment tomorrow. The mini-tower chassis provides plenty of room for
expansion with six device bays, five I/O slots (including three ISA slots,
one dedicated PCI slot and one shared PCI/ISA slot), and is fully
upgradeable with a zero insertion force (ZIF) socket to provide an easy
path to the next generation of Intel OverDrive processors. In addition,
RAM is expandable to 136 MB, and Video RAM is upgradeable to 2 MB.

Ready Series of Multimedia PCs

The new Ready P60M is the latest member of the Ready family, which is
designed to meet a variety of small office and home computing needs. For
example, Ready systems are available with several different processors and
speeds, including the Ready 433D, based on the Intel 486SX/33, the Ready
466D and Ready 466M, which are based on the Intel 486DX2/66, and the new
Ready P60M. Some Ready systems are also available in different
configurations -- the mini-tower style, which was developed in response to
customer requests for a compact footprint system that fits neatly in small
spaces, in addition to the standard desktop style. All Ready systems have
built-in multimedia capabilities and are pre-loaded with the latest
multimedia software.

Pricing, Availability and Warranty Information

Available immediately through NECT authorized resellers, the Ready P60M has
an estimated selling price of $2,299. As with all its highly reliable
Ready systems, NECT backs the Ready P60M with a strong three-year limited
warranty: one year on-site service plus two years, return-to-factory
service provided by NECT authorized service centers. Service and support
is enhanced via NECT's ReadyRemote service, a unique remote assistance
program in which NECT support technicians can resolve user software
problems directly through the system's pre-installed modem. NECT also
offers unlimited toll-free telephone product support and Bulletin Board
access.
