PRENTICE HALL PROFESSIONAL SOFTWARE TEAMS WITH COMPUSERVE TO OFFER ON-LINE
ELECTRONIC SERVICES

Agreement Establishes Exclusive Prentice Hall Forum

ATLANTA, September 9 -- Prentice Hall Professional Software today announced
the creation of its own forum on CompuServe, designed specifically to
service Prentice Hall customers. The result is a better, faster means for
the company to service its user base.

"Our research indicates that we have a growing number of customers who are
interested in, and who have the necessary hardware for, computer
information services," said Edwin "Dee" Goodnight, president. "We
established this forum in response to customer requests for a convenient,
efficient method of on-line communication." Initially, access to the forum
will be offered to all customers who have Prentice Hall applications with
time-sensitive updates, such as business tax, payroll and depreciation
software.

Access to CompuServe's Prentice Hall forum is simple: Users just type a
simple command and then enter an access code. There is no need to search
through topics or vendor names on CompuServe, as is the case with the
other software vendors that don't have their own forum.

Fast Access to Enhancements, Modifications

The most noteworthy benefit of the Prentice Hall private forum is its
ability to provide technical tips, enhancements and file patches.
According to Support Services Manager, Becky Eppinger, on-line technical
tips will be updated on a daily basis and customers will be able to access
program changes and enhancements instantly, rather than having to wait for
shipment.

"Fast access to up-to-the-minute file patches and convenient on-line tips
will enable our customers to be updated at essentially the same time as
our support staff, which is a major benefit during tax season in
particular," said Eppinger. To access technical tips and files for a
particular software package, accountants need a current maintenance
contract for that product.

Users will have electronic mail communication with Prentice Hall's support
staff, as well as file transfer capabilities between the accountant's
office and Prentice Hall. Said Eppinger: "CompuServe e-mail will be
available 24 hours a day, allowing our customers to post detailed
questions to our support staff" For example, a subscriber could send an
e-mail support question after hours and Prentice Hall's support staff
could respond first thing the following morning.

Subscribers will also have access to bulletins from Prentice Hall's
Education Services and special product promotions via CompuServe.

Forum Superior to Internal Bulletin Board Systems

According to Eppinger, Prentice Hall's exclusive CompuServe forum is
superior to the internally developed bulletin boards offered by other
accounting and tax software vendors for the following reasons:

* Unlimited access. Any number of Prentice Hall customers can access the
forum at the same time, whereas internal bulletin board systems are
limited to the number of modems/phone lines the vendor has installed.

* Nominal access cost. By taking advantage of CompuServe's some 1.8 million
members, the minimal start-up cost and low monthly fee make it easy to get
up and running with this on-line communications service. Most access calls
are local, so users pay only a fraction of the long-distance expenses
incurred by most other vendors' bulletin board systems.

* Other CompuServe sources. By signing up for Prentice Hall's forum, users
also get access to CompuServe's more than 2,000 information sources,
including other forums, databases, communication and transaction services,
such as stock market quotes.

Availability, Support and System Requirements

The Prentice Hall forum is available on CompuServe now. A start-up kit is
available for $39.95 and includes the CompuServe Information Manager
software, start-up information on the Prentice Hall forum, account
information, "Using CompuServe," a comprehensive book (valued at $19.95)
by Prentice Hall's sister company, Que Corporation, and a $25 credit
toward usage. CompuServe access only requires a computer, a modem, a phone
line and the start-up kit.
