XSoft to Sell TabWorks Through Direct Telemarketing Channel

TabWorks will continue to be bundled with Compaq PCs and sold as a
standalone product by Compaq

PALO ALTO, Calif., Sept. 12, 1994 - XSoft, a division of Xerox Corporation,
today announced that it will offer TabWorks, its successful notebook-style
interface for Windows, through the XSoft direct telemarketing channel.
XSoft also announced that Compaq Computer Corporation will continue to
bundle TabWorks on all its non-server PCs and sell it standalone, which
Compaq has done since the product first became available in October,
1993.

An enhancement to the Windows environment, TabWorks provides a simple and
intuitive way for users to organize work and manage their personal
documents. It is designed to look and function like a three-ring notebook,
using familiar components like tabs, pages, and a dynamic Table of
Contents to manage icons that represent files and documents.

Dennis W. Andrews, XSoft president, stated, "With the overwhelming response
that we've had from TabWorks users, XSoft recognizes the potential for
TabWorks to become an ease-of-use standard for PCs. In order to make this
happen, we need to broaden its distribution network. XSoft's own direct
telemarketing channel offers a link to thousands of Xerox customers. We
will continue to expand our channel for TabWorks with additional
distribution relationships where appropriate."

XSoft developed TabWorks based on research done in 1987 by Stuart Card and
Austin Henderson of the Xerox Palo Alto Research Center (PARC). They
published a white paper entitled "Catalogues: A Metaphor for Computer
Application Delivery" which presented the concept for using the catalog or
notebook metaphor for the delivery of application software.

TabWorks will be available immediately from XSoft at a price of $49.
Customers may purchase it by contacting XSoft Direct Telemarketing at
800-428-2995 or 415-8 l 3-6920.
