LANSource Announces Support for TCP/IP

WINport Fax and Modem Sharing Software for Networks will be the First
Combined Fax and Communications Server for TCP/IP

TORONTO, Canada -- August 25, 1994-- LANSource Technologies, the leader in
network fax and data communications server technology, announces a new
dimension in communications over the TCP/IP protocol. Now networks with
Windows clients running TCP/IP will be able to share fax and data modems
across their network.

"This product was developed because of customer demand," says Marc
Bisnaire, President of LANSource Technologies, UTCP/IP users are crying
out for a solution like WINport, and we will be the first developer to
have the solution shipped to their doors."

With the WINport combined fax and communications server, users can share a
fax-modem to send and receive faxes or to interactively access the modem.
Users can continue to use many different Windows single-user fax or
communication software "right out of the box!" WINport includes an
enhanced modem Windows program that re-directs Windows COM port software
calls across the network. There are no TSRs on the Windows client PCs.

The store-and-forward fax-server ("FAXport") makes use of all shared
fax-modems in the modem pool for simultaneous faxing to multiple
recipients. Incoming faxes can be automatically or manually routed to the
appropriate user to ensure privacy. Administrators can track all faxes and
data transfers through powerful administrative options including full
reporting, logging and diagnostics.

FAXport does not interfere with the running of the WINport modem server. It
will maximize the use of whatever fax-modems are available in the modem
pool, but if a user wants to use a modem for data, FAXport will 1st queue
the user, finish its transmission then make the modem available to the
data user. When the modem is free again, FAXport will resume using the
maximum number of fax-modems available in the modem pool.

WINport runs with any IPX, NetBIOS and now TCP/IP network running in a
Windows client environment.

WINport is distributed by Micro Central, DistribuPro, and EMI America in
the United States and by Ingram Micro and EMJ Data Systems in Canada with
other distributors in Europe and the South Pacific. Expected shipping date
for this TCP/IP version is late October '94 with upgrades available from
the IPX or NetBIOS version.

Advantages of the WINport solution

1. It is both a store-and-forward fax-server and a real-time modem server
combined into one.

2. For Windows faxing, it can be used with a variety of Windows fax
software.

3. For Windows communications, it can be used a variety of data
communications software.

4. It uses any standard Class 2 fax-modem (with support for class I and
class 2.0 modems available 4th quarter '94) or Hayes compatible data
modem.

5. There are no TSRs involved on the Windows client workstations.

6. WINport is feature-rich including: a full store-and-forward fax gateway,
inbound routing, fax notification upon receipt, uses all modems in the
pool for simultaneous broadcast faxing, incorporates bulk faxing, network
fax queue, billing codes and logs that can be exported to any word
processor, spreadsheet, or ASCII viewer, and support for modem speeds up
to 57,600 bps.
