XNET AND NEWPORT ANNOUNCE JOINT MARKETING VENTURE:
PARALLELSWITCH WILL SUPPORT LAN2LAN/MPR

MILPITAS, CA., August 29, 1994 -- XNET technology and Newport Systems
Solutions, Cisco Systems' PC Access business unit (NASDAQ:CSCO), announced
a strategic marketing agreement that will integrate XNET's ParallelSwitch
and Newport's LAN2LAN/MPR routing software. Under the agreement, the XNET
ParallelSwitch will be supported as a network interface and switching
element under Newport's Open Internetworking Architecture. Both companies
will jointly market products through their respective distribution
channels.

"Our advanced integrated switching technology combined with Newport's
leading edge routing capability provides unparalleled performance
solutions," said Phil Edholm, vice president of sales and marketing at
XNET. With LAN2LAN/MPR, multiple ParallelSwitch cards can be
interconnected at high-speeds across the server bus. Up to four cards,
each with six Ethernet networks can be integrated into a single chassis
with routing between the cards. This implementation can deliver up to 24
port solutions.

Integrating the ParallelSwitch and LAN2LAN/MPR is also ideal for high
performance WAN solutions at central and remote sites. Network
configurations for both LAN and WAN solutions can be built easily and
cost-effectively.

Harry Noborikawa, director of marketing at Newport said, "The XNET
ParallelSwitch is a powerful addition to the LAN interface options we
offer our customers. With six ports and high-speed Ethernet switching
between the ports on the card, it is an ideal way to enhance the bandwidth
and connectivity options of the Open Internetworking Architecture."

"The powerful routing capability of Newport's LAN2LAN/MPR combined with
high power switching from the ParallelSwitch is ideal for users who are
looking to build and enhance local and wide area network configurations,"
said Charbe Davis, vice president operations at Alternative Technology,
Inc., a distributor of XNET products. "This will allow me to integrate
high performance solutions for my clients with superior results."

The XNET Series 1800 ParallelSwitch is available through authorized
resellers and distributors worldwide. The EISA ParallelSwitch is priced
from $2,988 to $3,188, depending on server bus type and media connection.
