ELAN ANNOUNCES EXPANDED LICENSE MANAGER SUPPORT FOR WINDOWS-32S

San Jose, Calif., March 15,1994 - Elan Computer Group, Inc. has announced
expanded support for its widely used licensing technology, the Elan
License Manager (ELM) to the Microsoft Windows-32 S environment. Elan
Computer Group, a leader in the field of licensing technology in the UNIX
marketplace, recently announced ELM for Windows-16 and Windows NT. This
technology enables software developers to provide a consistent license
manager for cross platform software applications. With the addition of the
Windows-32S support, ELM is now the only technology of its kind to provide
license management interoperability between the Windows, Windows NT and
UNIX environments.

"We are committed to provide an enterprise-wide software licensing solution
that benefits both software developer and end-user," said Ken Greer,
founder and president of Elan Computer Group. "License management is a
relatively new idea for the PC market that will enable developers to
finally realize full revenues from their software distribution. With the
increasing complexities faced by system administrators and end-users in a
heterogeneous networking environment, ELM offers the only networked
license management solution that eases the pain of network security,
application maintenance and user access across multiple computing
platforms."

ELM Offers Full Feature Set to Developers and End-Users

ELM is a software licensing toolkit for applications developers that
controls multiuser access to software applications in a network or
multi-user environment. When incorporated into a software developers
application, ELM allows developers to:

* offer customers user-based licensing that controls the number
of concurrent users that may access an application
* set flexible expiration dates for evaluation copies
* add a form of copy protection such that an application will run
  only where authorized
* adjust user licenses and expiration dates dynamically via phone
  or fax
* License individual components of an application
* collect fair return on their software distribution since
  unlicensed copies are eliminated

System administrators and end users can rely on the benefits of ELM such
as:

* automatic tracking of concurrent license usage - the burden
of monitoring legal usage of software is alleviated
* there are no license or system files to edit
* the short license keys are easily installable by a system
administrator and require no maintenance once installed
* the license is transparent to the user

The Windows-16, Windows-32S and Windows NT versions of ELM all support the
Licensing Services API (LSAPI) developed by Microsoft Corp.

ELM is available in both source and binary forms and is shipped with a
software developers application. Software developers pay a one time
licensing fee of $7,500 for ELM in binary form for Microsoft Windows.

Founded in 1984, Elan Computer Group will be celebrating its tenth
anniversary of being in business at the Software Development/Business
Solutions tradeshow.

Elan Computer Group, Inc is a privately held developer of the ELM licensing
technology. ELM has been adopted by major software developers including
AT&T, Apple Computer, Motorola, SPARC International, Autodesk and many
others. ELM is available in both source and binary forms for most UNIX
systems, the NeXT platform, VAX, Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Windows
NT.
