New Software Protection Now Available For Applications Running Under
Windows NT

March 1994 -- New York, USA; Tel-Aviv, Israel -- Industry analysts agree
that the latest major development in the PC industry is Windows NT,
Microsoft's new cross-platform operating system. While developers race to
complete their applications for the new system, Aladdin Knowledge Systems
has released the first protection system for software running under
Windows NT. Aladdin's HASP - The Professional Software Protection System,
now offers an interface for the newest and most exciting operating system
in the market.

The Problem of Software Piracy

The latest figures published by the Software Publisher's Association (SPA)
prove that the problem of software piracy is as rampant as ever, with
annual losses to the industry estimated at well over $10 billion.

While industry giants can choose to educate, and, where education fails, to
litigate, a growing number of the small to medium-sized developers have
decided that the only feasible solution to the problem is to actively
protect their products.

The Solution

The HASP protection system is based on a hardware key containing a unique
electronic developer code. The developer utilizes HASP's special
(device-driver based) Windows NT interface, which enables inserting calls
to the HASP key into the protected software's source code. During runtime,
the protected software verifies that a HASP key with the appropriate
developer code is connected to the computer. If the key's code is
confirmed, the software can be executed. If not, the software will not
run.

While offering the highest level of security currently available,
implementation is quick and simple. All HASP keys employ Application
Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) technology, together with advanced
software anti-debugging and encryption techniques.

With the Legitimate End-user in Mind:

Aladdin has given much thought to the software user's needs. HASP keys are
transparent to all parallel port operations. This ensures total
compatibility of the HASP system with all types of computers and
peripheral devices. And, since the latest version of the HASP is also the
smallest ASIC-based protection key in the world, the protection system is
as inconspicuous and hassle-free as possible.

Multiple Platform Support

In addition to Windows NT, the HASP protection system supports a wide
variety of programming languages and environments, including DOS, Windows
3.x, OS/2 V 2.x, UNIX, Xenix, AIX, AutoCad, Japanese-standard environments
and LANs.

Hardware supported includes IBM PCs and their compatibles, Macintosh and
Japanese-standard NEC and Fujitsu.

Prices

Prices for the HASP product line start at $29.00 (US) per unit, including
all necessary software and documentation. There is no additional cost for
adding extra operating system interfaces, including Windows NT.
