About the Author ...

A pioneer in his field, Jeffrey D Ullman is well known as a "founding
father" of computer science. A consultant, educator and researcher, he
worked for three years on the technical staff at Bell Labs and taught for
ten years at Princeton. Currently, he is chairman of the computer science
department at Stanford University. He is widely published in his field and
is the author or co-author of 13 books. Ullman was elected to the National
Academy of Engineering in 1990. In addition he retains many positions on
numerous professional panels and advisory boards.
