Aldus Consumer Division completes acquisition of After Hours Software

SAN DIEGO, June 22, 1993--Aldus Corporation's consumer division today
announced that it has completed its acquisition of After Hours Software
(AH Software Inc.). The purchase price included an initial payment of
approximately $4 million, with additional payments tied to performance
over the next three years. Aldus signed a letter of intent on May 18 to
acquire After Hours, a privately owned, Los Angeles-based software
developer.

Under the terms of the agreement, all functions of After Hours Software
will be merged over the next several months into the San Diego facilities
of the Aldus Consumer Division (ACD).

The acquisition is being accounted for as a purchase. Accordingly, the June
financial results of After Hours will be incorporated into Aldus'
financial statements for the second quarter ended July 2, 1993. The
acquisition is expected to result in a one-time charge against earnings of
up to $2 million, or approximately 15 cents per share, in the second
quarter.

"This is an important strategic acquisition as we expand our line of
consumer-oriented, value-priced software," said Steve Cullen, Aldus vice
president and general manager of the division. "We believe the personal
information management category has the potential for excellent growth,
and this acquisition positions us well to participate in this emerging
category."

After Hours is the creator of TouchBase and DateBook, award-winning
personal information management (PIM) products for the Apple Macintosh
computer. The latest versions, TouchBase Pro and DateBook Pro, were
released in April, each with a suggested retail price of $79.95.

"We're pleased the acquisition has been completed so quickly," Cullen
added. "We expect a smooth transition as we incorporate the After Hours
products into Aldus' worldwide distribution network."

DateBook and TouchBase join the other products of the Aldus consumer line:
IntelliDraw, Gallery Effects, Personal Press, and SuperPaint.

Aldus Corporation (NASDAQ: ALDC) creates computer software solutions that
help people throughout the world effectively communicate information and
ideas. The company focuses on three lines of business: applications for
the professional publishing and prepress markets; applications for the
general consumer market (ACD products); and service and support programs
for professional end-users. Aldus has subsidiaries in Europe, Asia, and
the Pacific Rim serving a worldwide network of dealers and distributors.
