Central Point Ships Version 1.1 of Central Point Anti-Virus for NetWare

Expands Sales, Service and Support to Match Demand for Enterprise
Protection and "Disaster Avoidance "

BEAVERTON, Ore.--June 1, 1993--Central Point Software, Inc. shipped Version
1.1 of Central Point Anti-Virus for NetWare, the newest upgrade to the
company's powerful client-server anti-virus product line. Version 1.1 is
shipping just seven months after Central Point first announced its
commitment to data protection on networks and shipped its first network
product--Central Point Anti-Virus for NetWare 1.0, a NetWare Loadable
Module (NLM). The company has enhanced the product to improve performance,
provide domain support and allow the network administrator to install and
update the product on multiple servers with one easy command. Version 1.1
arms network users and administrators with bulletproof, easy-to-manage
Centralized Virus Management. A Novell-certified product, the NLM runs on
NetWare networks ranging from single-server workgroups to multiple-server
enterprises.

"It's becoming abundantly clear to corporations that networks are breeding
grounds for viruses, and there's no way to safely implement client-server
computing without centralized virus protection--protecting data on both
desktops and servers across the entire enterprise in an integrated
manner," said Srivats Sampath, director of product marketing, network
products at Central Point. "We are committed to building network products
that provide the highest level of data protection--transparent, scalable
and centrally managed. This is our mission and our number-one priority."

Bringing the Best Products and Support to the Channel and the Customer

Since the launch of Central Point's network business in October 1992, the
company has been aggressively seeding the market with Central Point
Anti-Virus for NetWare, as well as working with Novell, the channel and
corporate customers to provide the best data protection services and
support for the enterprise. The company has seeded thousands of evaluation
copies in Fortune 500-class companies, and now more than 40 percent of
those companies have either standardized on the product or are actively
evaluating it.

The company is also expanding its support and delivery systems to meet the
growing demand for enterprise-level data protection. In that effort,
Central Point has been working closely with select Novell Platinum and
Gold value-added resellers (VARs) to fine-tune an exceptional, cooperative
service and support program for the VAR channel.

"With our Value-added Reseller program, Central Point Software is creating
a unique, truly valuable opportunity for the network VAR Channel," added
Sampath. "We view value-added resellers as an extension of our company;
therefore, we intend to provide them with a suite of specialized services,
such as lead distribution, technical support, product training and the
ability to provide Central Point Volume License and Service License
Agreements to their customers."

Version 1.1 Brings Increased Performance, Expanded Capabilities

Version 1.1 of Central Point Anti-Virus for NetWare brings the following
new capabilities:

** Version 1.1 detects and cleans viruses on desktops and servers more than
50 percent faster than version 1.0. The speed improvements are the result
of Central Point's unique "intelligent scanning" process. The product only
scans files when it needs to, which allows for a tremendous performance
savings.

** Version 1.1 now supports network domains. The system administrator can
partition the network into logical groups of file servers as desired and
administer each domain service, such as remote installation,
administration and reporting that is tailored for each group's needs.

** Version 1.1 and all updates can be installed on multiple servers
simultaneously. The administrator can now install Central Point Anti-Virus
for NetWare on as many servers as desired in just minutes by entering a
single command. The software can be updated just as easily.

** Central Point Anti-Virus for NetWare Version 1.1 is a Novell
Laboratories Certified and Approved Product. Central Point Anti-Virus for
NetWare has passed Novell's NLM tests for robustness and compatibility
with NetWare 3.11 networks. In addition, the product will soon be NetWare
4.0-compliant.
