Merit" from BYTE Magazine.

Okidata's printers and facsimile machines also garnered accolades in 1992,
including the OL810, which was selected as a "Printer of the Year" by VARs
in a survey conducted by VARBUSINESS magazine. In a recent Gallup survey
just published by Computer Reseller News. Okidata tied with Apple as the
preferred laser printer manufacturer among resellers.

"The awards and reviews DOC-IT has received confirm our belief that its
introduction was one of the most significant events in the computing
industry in 1992," said Gary Savadove, Okidata's senior vice president,
sales and marketing. "DOC- IT is another example of our commitment to
innovative PC peripheral products which provide major benefits for end
users."

LED Page Printers

Okidata provides a full range of LED page printers that deliver significant
value and performance while providing high-quality and reliable printing
solutions for all office applications from small- and medium-sized
businesses to large companies.

The newest members of the page printer family are the OL830 Plus and the
OL850. These eight page-per-minute (ppm) printers feature the company's
patented OKI Smoothing Technology for enhanced resolution and superior
output. They also feature advanced graphics for cost-conscious users
looking to take advantage of Adobe PostScript capabilities at attractive

At $1,999, the OL850 offers 30 more fonts than its predecessor, the OL840,
for a total of 65 fonts. Equipped with an AppleTalk interface, the OL850
can connect with either a Macintosh- or PC-based computer. Additionally,
this printer features Adobe Type Manager software for use in both Windows
and Macintosh environments for the optimum in text or graphics output.

The OL830 Plus, with a suggested list price of $1,799, is an entry-level
PostScript printer featuring Adobe Type Manager for Windows, which allows
the user true "what you see is what you get" (WYSIWYG) capability. It also
offers the sophisticated features of Adobe PostScript software, including
industry standard font scaling, font rotation, vector graphics and gray
scale printing.

The high-performance OL810 features HP LaserJet III (PCL5) compatibility,
1MB of memory for more downloaded fonts and larger charts and graphics; 13
resident AGFA Compugraphic Intellifont scalable outline fonts and 42
resident bitmap fonts for better looking documents and a professional
typeset appearance.

At the low end, Okidata's OL400 offers superior paper handling, more
resident fonts, full software compatibility and outstanding output quality
in a compact design. It was created to meet the printing needs of the
corporate executive as well as the personal user. Desktop Document
Processors

Providing end users with full computer peripheral functionality, Okidata's
revolutionary DOC-IT desktop document processor incorporates a personal
copier, a facsimile machine, a printer and a scanner into one compact
unit.

Designed for use with MS-DOS and Windows-based personal computers, the
DOC-IT system consists of three elements: a desktop document processor
(DOC-IT DDP); a controller processor board (DOC-IT Controller) for
insertion into a PC/AT-compatible personal computer; and DDP management
software (DOC-IT Manager). With DOC-IT, a user can create a document on
the PC, incorporate scanned graphics, fax it and produce a hard copy, all
with one peripheral.

The desktop document processor, called DOC-IT DDP, uses Okidata's own LED
print engine for document output (printing). An image scanner is included
to provide document input capability. The LED print engine and scanner
work together to offer scanning, copying, printing and faxing of
documents. The removable scanner can be used by hand to scan newspapers,
books and other oversized documents. The DOC-IT DDP is small in size and
looks much like a typical desktop laser printer.

The second element of the system, the DOC-IT Controller, is a full-sized
16-bit industry standard architecture (ISA) board that features a 32-bit
Intel i960 reduced instruction set computing (RISC) microprocessor. The
DOC- IT Controller is optimized for image processing to ensure all PC
resources are completely available for the user's application programs.

The last element of the system is DOC- IT Manager, a graphical user
interface (GUI) and software application that controls DOC-IT's four
integrated document processing functions. With a GUI interface, users can
take advantage of the pull-down menus, dialog boxes and icons to
manipulate the functions easily and manage the files created by the
desktop document processor.

At $3,299, DOC-IT 3000 offers 300 dpi resolution for presentation-quality
printing and copying. DOC-IT 4000 features up to 400 dPi resolution for
higher quality output and has a suggested retail price of $3,799.

Dot-Matrix Printers

Recently joining Okidata's line of popular dot-matrix printers are the
Microline 395 and 395C. These rugged 24-pin machines feature increased
speed and enhanced paper handling capabilities for users in demanding
business environments requiring high productivity and excellent print
quality, including factories, warehouses and accounting departments. They
offer print speeds 17 percent faster than their predecessors. The new
printers feature 607 character-per-second (cps) print speed in draft mode;
486 cps in utility mode; 242 cps in near letter quality mode; and 162 in
letter quality mode. And for maximum impact in business applications, the
ML395C provides a wide range of colors, including magenta, yellow, cyan,
violet, green and black.

The Microline 520 and 521 are the first Okidata 9-pin printers to
incorporate the company's patented OKISMART Paper Handling Technology,
which automatically adjusts the printhead to accommodate different paper
thicknesses. The ML520 and ML521 were designed for extensive use in
applications where users frequently switch back and forth between
different paper types. Priced at $599 for the narrow-carriage ML520 and
$799 for the wide-carriage ML521, these printers offer six-part forms
capabilities, a 27 percent faster speed (430 cpi in draft mode, 320 cpi in
utility and 80 cpi in near-letter quality) than the Epson FX870/1170 and a
higher mean-time-between-failure (MTBF) rating than comparable products.
Also, the ML520 and ML521 are the only printers in their class to feature
resident bar code fonts.

The Microline 590 and 591, the first Okidata 24-pin dot-matrix printers to
incorporate OKISMART Paper Handling Technology, feature an optional color
capability with a quick snap-in module. The color system is integrated
into a proprietary re-inking mechanism that allows for long ribbon life
(up to 5.3 million total characters) and more vibrant, rich color. It can
be used with popular color software packages, such as Harvard Graphics 3.0
and Corel Draw.

A full range of options for advanced paper handling needs are available.
The printers also are bundled with font scaling software from Bitstream
and come with a two year warranty. In addition, the ML590 and 591 feature
Okidata's exclusive OKISMART Front Panel that allows users to change
common printer settings, such as form feed, line feed and character pitch
right from the PC.

The "Super Tough" Pacemark 3410 is powerful enough to leave a crisp
impression on sheet aluminum -- or on the last page of an eight-part form.
With a top speed of 550 cps, a mean-time-between-failure (MTBF) of 8,000
hours, and dual continuous-form paper paths, the PM3410 is designed for
long-run applications that require high-speed and reliability.

Okidata's other "Super Tough" printer, the Microline 184T, is especially
effective in industrial and point-of-sale environments. It has a 300
character-per-second (cps) draft print speed and is perfect for bottom
feed/short tear applications commonly used in POS applications.

The Microline 320 and 321 printers are rugged 9-pin printers that offer
speeds up to 300 cps in High Speed Draft mode, 250 cps in Utility mode,
and 63 cps in Near Letter Quality mode. A rear-feed paper path
incorporates a built-in push tractor for continuous forms, and an
automatic park feature allows for switching from continuous forms to
sheet-fed printing.

The Microline 380 printer is a 24-pin dot-matrix printer that offers six
built-in resident letter-quality fonts. It has three paper paths and paper
parking which allows for professional paper handling at an affordable,
home office price.
