TECMAR EXPANDS QICVAULT SERIES, INTRODUCES 4GB QIC SYSTEM FOR WORKSTATIONS
AND NETWORKS

HIGHEST PERFORMANCE, HIGHEST CAPACITY QIC DRIVE AVAILABLE

NEW YORK, N.Y., June 29, 1993--Tecmar, Inc., a leading supplier of backup
solutions for networked desktop computers, has begun shipping the 4GB
QICVault 4000. The latest in the company's QICVault Series of quarter-inch
cartridge (QIC) tape backup systems, the system is designed to provide
speedier file restoration and improved data protection and management for
local-area networks (LANs) and power workstations.

The QICVault 4000--offering 4GB (compressed) of storage capacity--is the
most powerful QIC system available on the market, storing twice the data
and running up to 50 percent faster than any competitive QIC tape drive.
The system offers backup speeds up to 36MB per minute, protecting up to
2GB of data per hour.

To make the QICVault 4000 flexible for use within a number of important
computing environments, Tecmar includes a FlexPAK software kit at no extra
charge. Consisting of solutions for DOS, OS/2 and Novell NetWare, the kit
includes Tecmar's QTOS (QualityTape Operating System) for DOS, QTOS NLM
for Novell NetWare and Sytron Sytos Plus for OS/2.

The QICVault 4000 is available in both internal and external
configurations. Both internal and external models use Tecmar's High
Density Encoding (HDE+) high-performance SCSI adapter (ISA and MCA)
boards. For a limited time during its introduction, all QICVault 4000
models will be shipped with a free ISA HDE+ adapter with data compression,
representing a $295 value.

Tecmar designed the QICVault 4000 to provide an upward migration path for
the millions of Quarter-inch cartridge users. The entry level cost of
$1995 gives QICVault 4000 unsurpassed cost per megabyte of capacity in the
marketplace. 'We are committed, as always, to providing our customers with
optimum performing tape backup solutions," said Jan Johnson, Tecmar's
Director of Marketing. 'We achieved that goal with the QICVault 4000 and
at the same time have been able to offer our customers the best price
point in the marketplace." The QICVault 4000 comes in internal and
external configurations:

* QICVault 4000ex (external) -- $2,395
* QICVault 4000is (internal) -- $1,995
* QICVault 4000es (external) -- $2,195
* HDE+ ISA Adapter -- $295
* HDE+ MCA Adapter -- $395

Each configuration is backed by a full two-year worldwide warranty as well
as unlimited toll-free technical support. Tecmar's QuickTurn Quality
Service program assures factory service within 48 hours should any problem
occur within the first six months of ownership. (Continental US only).
