MasterConsole Simplifies Network Server Management for Network
Administrators, Systems Integrators and VARs

RCI's MasterConsole is making life easier for LAN Administrators and others
responsible for network server operations, by enabling them to control up
to 64 PC network servers with one central keyboard and one monitor.

By using MasterConsole to control file servers, communications servers,
bridges and gateways, Network Administrators reclaim valuable floor and
desk space by eliminating the clutter (and cost) of excess keyboards and
monitors used with their network servers. Just as important, MasterConsole
improves productivity in network management by centralizing the access,
monitoring and control of all the PC servers.

Over 5,000 MasterConsoles are in use in LAN operations worldwide - at
organizations like Intel, IBM, AT&T, US Sprint, PepsiCo, UPS, Norwest
Bank, Shearson Lehman, PG&E, J&J, US Postal Service, and the US Navy (GSA
approved).

In addition to network server control, MasterConsole is used to support
other applications which benefit from central control of multiple PCs with
a single keyboard and monitor. These include dial-in remote computer
access, PC system integration and testing, PC production Q/A, and the
access and control of multiple workstations.

MasterConsole models MC2E, MC4E, MC8E and MC16E connect to and control up
to 2, 4, 8, and 16 PCs respectively, and are priced at $375, $830, $1300
and $1700, plus associated cables. Any combination of AT/386/486 PCs (and
compatibles) and IBM PS/2s (all models) are connected to MasterConsole
with RCI provided cables from 2 to 60 feet in length. Models MC8RE and
MC16RE are 19" rack-mountable versions of the MC8E and MC16E, priced at
$1450 and $1850, respectively.

Each PC is selected from MasterConsole's front panel. A single keyboard and
monitor, plugged into MasterConsole, serve as the "console" for each PC as
it is selected. The addition of a MasterConsole Remote Panel provides dual
access and control of all PCs up to 150 feet away. This capability further
increases the personnel productivity and convenience created by the use of
MasterConsole.

All MasterConsole models include RCI's unique Keyboard Emulation, which
provides an intelligent microprocessor at each MasterConsole channel, so
that each connected PC always has "its own dedicated keyboard". This
insures 100% reliability for all keyboard operations - PC selection, PC
access and automatic PC booting. RCI's keyboard emulator incorporates the
entire spectrum of PS/2 keyboard capabilities. This means that any
AT/386/486 or PS/2, all models, can be connected to any MasterConsole
channel - just "plug and play".

When not actually working on any PC, the user can simply touch AUTOSCAN on
the front panel and monitor the activity of each PC as MasterConsole scans
all powered PCs at a user-selectable rate.

In addition to Corporate Network Administrators, many VARs such as
CLR/Fast-Tax, Fourth Financial and Unipage incorporate MasterConsole into
their network products. While top Systems Integrators such as Advanced
Networks, ISYX and Emerald Engineering include MasterConsole when they
plan new network installations for their clients.

MasterConsole VARs target vertical markets such as Accounting, Banking,
Communications and Government. They typically package several network
servers, all neatly controlled by MasterConsole with a single
keyboard/monitor, as the nucleus of a LAN/WAN application. These turn-key
applications often replace existing mainframe production applications, in
keeping with the corporate trend of downsizing from mainframes to PC
networks.

As the computer world downsizes to LANs and WANs, a product like
MasterConsole delivers significant economic and operational benefits to
all network managers.
