TEMPRA Media Author Ships This Month

Full-fledged Authoring System Includes Video Production, Database
Management Capabilities

(COMDEX--Las Vegas, NV--Nov. 16, 1992) Mathematica, Inc. expands multimedia
from the confined realm of presentations into the front office with DBF
file compatibility for database users, onto the factory floor with RS232
device control, and into the marketing and sales office with information
gathering variables. TEMPRA Media Author, a high-end authoring system from
the Lakeland, Florida-based software company's TEMPRA desktop video/
multimedia line, provides a complete multimedia solution comparable to
more costly programs like Authorware Pro and Quest. TEMPRA Media Author
features more user control in creating interactive productions and
provides multiple deck sourcing and database functions, making it ideal
for any multimedia need from courseware to video production, and allowing
users to integrate multimedia into their current work requirements.

"TEMPRA Media Author provides capabilities that are critical to the needs
of professional multimedia authors who can't afford--or don't want to
buy--similar programs costing as much as $3,000. It gives corporate and
independent multimedia developers the speed, power, and flexibility
previously found only in the most sophisticated and expensive systems,"
said Derek Hodges, President of Mathematica, Inc. "These features target
advanced-level videographers and multimedia producers who need
sophisticated tools, especially for interactive desktop video, .
computer-based training, and point-of-sale-kiosk applications."

TEMPRA Media Author begins shipping this month at a retail price of $995
and includes a copy of TEMPRA PRO (image editor) and TEMPRA Turbo Animator
(32-bit accelerator/animation editor). This product combination gives
users a low-cost solution to produce high-quality courseware, desktop
videos, and presentations.

TEMPRA Media Author includes all the features of the best-selling TEMPRA
SHOW desktop video and multimedia software that makes it a powerful
desktop video program, including the ability to integrate audio,
full-motion video, animation, graphics, and special effects into
interactive presentations.

TEMPRA Media Author includes a royalty-free playback system for
distribution of productions and has the following features:

* Multiple Sony VISCA support, which allows users to daisy-chain several
VISCA devices (Vdecks, CD-ROMs, laserdiscs, camcorders, and NTSC monitors)
together for video editing through the computer. Database management
functions.

* Timeout, which allows users to designate a specified length of time for
viewers to press a key or select a menu before advancing to a
predetermined branch. Videodisc Control, which allows users to control
access to sounds, images, and scenes stored on a videodisc. TEMPRA Media
Author extends laserdisc control with support of Sony and Pioneer
videodisc players.

* Variables, for such uses as scorekeeping, giving weights to different
answers, and creating simulations. Subroutines, self-contained groups of
lines used repeatedly from different places in the same or separate
sequences. Track, which allows users to monitor the activities of viewers.
The track can be saved to an ASCII file for later analysis. Serial device
control.

Since 1986, Mathematica, Inc. has been developing computer graphics and
imaging software on MS-DOS and Unix-based PCs and RISC systems for AT&T
Bell Labs, AT&T's Software Labs, and Fuji Optical Systems. The complete
line of TEMPRA products are available to dealers through Merisel, Ingram
Micro, Tech Data, and Kenfil in the U.S.; Neidermeier Data Systems in
Germany; Lako Vision in Australia; and Phase 3 Communications in the
United Kingdom.
