NSA 3270 PC-to-Mainframe Support for Windows NT

Network Software Associates Announces Support for Microsoft's New Windows
NT Operating System.

LAGUNA HILLS, CA, March 8, 1993 -- Network Software Associates, Inc.
announced today that it has entered into a strategic development agreement
with Microsoft Corporation to develop a simplified 3270 PC-to-mainframe
communications program that will ship with every copy of Windows NT,
Microsoft's next generation, 32-bit operating system for PCs. The new
program, called the 3270 Emulator, is now a standard feature of the latest
beta release of Windows NT.

Supplied as part of the Windows NT Accessories Program Group, the 3270
Emulator provides mainframe connectivity over any IEEE 802.2 network
connection, such as an IBM Token-Ring Local Area Network (LAN). It
supports one host display session, copy and paste functions, and other
basic capabilities. Emulating an IBM 3278 model 2, 3,4 or 5 display
station, the 3270 Emulator takes advantage of the built-in system and
network connectivity features of Windows NT, such as the 802.2 protocol
stack, the 32-bit Windows NT Application Programming Interfaces (APls),
and the Registry security data base.

In a related announcement, Microsoft, Network Software Associates, and
other IBM connectivity vendors today announced broad support for SNA
communications on Windows NT. Network Software Associates announced plans
to provide Windows NT versions of their flagship DynaComm/Elite and
Elite/400 products.

"Network Software Associates is very excited to be part of Microsoft's
ground breaking introduction of Windows NT," said Network Software
Associates President/CEO Isaac (Zak) Kong. "We are fully committed to the
future of Windows technology. The 3270 Emulator accessory represents one
component of our expanding relationship as a Microsoft development
partner".

The 3270 Emulator unveiled today provides only the most basic 3270 terminal
emulation features. "We anticipate that it will create substantial demand
for our full line of current and future Windows-compliant PC-to-host
connectivity products."

Microsoft will be demonstrating Windows NT with the new 3270 Emulator at
this week's INTEROP trade show in Washington, D.C. In addition to
participating in Microsoft's booth, Network Software Associates will also
be demonstrating their complete line of connectivity products in their own
INTEROP booth (booth #260), as well as at the INTEROP APPN/APPC Showcase
(booth #2229).

Network Software Associates, Inc., founded in 1980, develops, markets and
