New PC-compatible Single Board Computer Runs at 66 MHz, Drives 64,000
Colors on Color TFT Flat Panel Displays

March 11, 1993 -- Greer, SC . . . Computer Dynamics announces the
introduction of the SBC-486DX, a full-function PC-compatible single board
computer which features a 486DX2 CPU at 66 MHz, and the highest speed
video controller available, capable of driving 64,000 colors on flat panel
displays. The SBC486DX is best applied wherever a small, rugged board
featuring both the most powerful PC CPU available and a specialized video
controller are needed, e.g., for running WINDOWS and today's Graphical
User Interfaces (GUIs).

The SBC486DX is available in four CPU configurations: 486SX at 25 MHz;
486DX at 33 MHz; 486DX at 50 MHz; and 486DX2 at 66 MHz. The board's local
bus video controller offers the most advanced package of video functions
on the market today. All video accesses run at 32 bits for maximum
throughput, and WINDOWS accelerators are built into the hardware for
"BITBLT", hardware cursor and line drawing. This controller is the only
one to drive Super VGA 1024x768 in 256 colors on a color TFT LCD. 64,000
colors are possible on 640x480 color TFT or passive matrix color LCDs. A
flat panel display and a CRT can be driven simultaneously.

Capacity and flexibility are the hallmarks of the SBC486DX's memory array.
Up to 32 megabytes of DRAM are offered on board, in addition to an
optional 256k of on-board supplementary cache. Three sockets support 512k
EPROMS, 512k SRAMs, and 256k flash ROMS for a total RAM/ROM capacity of
1.5 megabytes. Computer Dynamics' "ROM Tools" software easily takes your
application code from the DOS development environment to this on-board
semiconductor disk.

Other features include floppy and IDE hard disk controllers, a watch-dog
timer and real-time clock, speaker and keyboard interfaces, two COM ports
and a printer port, and a standard Quadtel BIOS. The board also offers a
buffered UART option, which improves serial port performance in the
multi-tasking environment. It also supports 2.88 megabyte floppies. For
expansion. the SBC486DX offers both a PC bus connector and an SBX
connector. The 5.75" x 7.75" board draws only 8W (33 MHz 486DX), and is
rated 0 to 70 degrees C.

The price for the SBC-486DX is $1551 for the 33 MHz 486DX in 100-piece
quantity, with stock to 30-day availability. For more information, contact
