FirstClass Client for Windows Released

TORONTO--May 1st, 1993--SoftArc Inc. of Toronto is now shipping a
Windows-based front end for its FirstClass E-mail, conferencing and remote
access software.

The freely-distributable FirstClass Client for Windows offers features and
functionality nearly identical to its companion FirstClass Macintosh
client, and permits users to connect to Mac-based FirstClass servers via
network or modem for E-mail and groupware conference access.

Clients on Macintosh or Windows may access the same, non-dedicated
FirstClass server without dedicated Novell file servers, routers or other
hardware. Network connections to the server from both machine types are
made over the same physical Ethernet cable. The FirstClass server accepts
logins over PC IPX AppleTalk and modem at the same time. Up to 250 users
of any mixture of connection types may be accommodated simultaneously. One
FirstClass server may accommodate more than 20 modems. Mail delivery
between platforms is instantanous and users of Macintosh and Windows
machines may even "chat" with each other in real time.

The FirstClass Windows client features the same asynchronous multiple file
transfer capability, powerful E-mail functionality and electronic
conferencing popular among users of the Macintosh graphical interface.

"There's been incredible demand for a FirstClass Windows interface. We're
delighted to make this announcement, and look forward to seeing FirstClass
solving communication problems in mixed-platform environments," said
SoftArc President Steve Asbury.

Owners of FirstClass systems require a plug-in software option to
accommodate Windows users via network or modem. The Windows option prices
at $295 (U.S.) for unlimited users. Users of the Windows interface require
a 386 or better running Microsoft Windows 3.1 or newer with a minimum of 4
MB of RAM.
