Energy-Efficient Computer Technology Paviliion Set for COMPUEXPO '93

COMPUEXPO will play host to a pavilion consisting of PC Technology
Providers supporting the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency "Energy Star
Computers" Program, a new initiative in cooperation with the PC industry
supporting the development of energy-saving computer products for the
1990's and beyond.

"Computer systems currently account for 5% of commercial electricity use in
the United States, with potential growth to 10% by the Year 2000. By
supplying computer components and subsystems with energy-saving features,
or power management software, companies supporting the Energy Star
Computers Program, provide the critical building blocks for integrating an
energy-efficient computer," said Brian Johnson, Program Mana~er for the
EPA Energy Star Program in Washington, D.C. "We have also introduced an
"Industry Allies" Program, in which member companies work together toward
the incorporation of energy-saving mechanisms as standard features in PC
Products," Johnson added.

"We welcome the initiative by COMPUEXPO, to promote the development of
energ,v-saving computers by hosting an Energy Star Pavilion at the show,
as well as their efforts to educate PC Technology Providers in the U.S.
and internationally about the importance of energysaving PC's", Johnson
concluded.

conduct business," said Michael Ham, Sales & Marketing Representative for

Targeting attendees is a leading focus for COMPUEXPO organizers. The '92
attendance held true to the highly qualified market of PC OEMs, VARs,
system integrators and resellers targeted. Said June Lo, Executive VP of
UNSC, "Over 72% of COMPUEXPO '92 attendees were computer remarketers,
includin 40% VAR/System Integrator, 20% Computer Retailer and 12% PC
Products distributor or super/club store reseller! But, the really good

TAIWAN Technology Companies Build Brand Awareness

Last month, COMPUEXPO, in association with the Taipei Hsien Computer
Association, hosted a seminar in Taipei, Taiwan focusing on methods PC
Technology Providers can use to build "brand awareness" for their
products. Over so companies attended the seminar, held at the Grand Hyatt
Hotel, Taipei. In addition to the COMPUEXPO speaker, representatives from
Western Digital Corp., Taiwan Branch and Sun Moon Star Corp. spoke to the
assembled audience on the importance of having a clearly identifiable
brand name, and the role of marketing services like COMPUEXPO in achieving
high brand name awareness.

"COMPUEXPO was highly successful for us in generating awareness for our new
multimedia products," said Dr. James Liao, of Visionetics Corp., during
the seminar question and answer period. "We made direct contact with over
500 qualified resellers for our products, and are still hard at work
turning those sales leads into long term customers for our company," he
added.

The COMPUEXPO Brand Awareness Seminar was held at the beginning of "Taiwan
Image Week" an international event sponsored by CETRA designed to heighten
awareness of modern marketing techniques among Taiwan corporations, and to
reinforce the message of the high quality for which Taiwan products are
known on the international market.

"COMPUEXPO supported Taiwan Image Week, in particular, the efforts by
Taiwan's Computer Industry to take its marketing message directly to US
resellers and system integrators, said Stanley Chao, a member of the
COMPUEXPO Board. "We are confident COMPUEXPO will continue to be the best
showcase for Taiwan PC and PC Technology Providers to accomplish these
objectives," he concluded.
