The EYE Image Calculator is PC-based, MS-Windows image
acquisition/processing software. Frame grabbers from EPIX Inc (Northbook,
IL) and Coreco Inc. (St. Laurent, PQ) are supported. EYE presents a
powerful approach to image processing, allowing operations on groups of
images at a time. Iterations are easily performed. Multiple images can be
stored in TIFF format and retrieved individually. Capture and display by a
novel point and click technique allowing fast access to all image memory.

Standard image processing along with 3D-luminescence plots, contour plots,
graphic overlays, movie loops, and more. Automatic sampling processes a
live scene over time. Point co-ordinates can be recorded, analysed and
plotted. Camera/Display format, and frame grabber ADC, LUTs, are
adjustable, EYE supports inter-application exchange of its plots and data.

Image Memory Like You've Never Seen It Before! 

Say goodbye to the days of wading through menus to capture and display
images. With our new innovation known as the Image Pad, capture and
display have never been simpler! The Image Pad is a spreadsheet of cells
in which each cell references a complete image on your frame grabber. Two
icons residing on the Image Pad control image capture and display. Drag
the display icon across the Image Pad to instantly view your images. Click
the camera icon over an Image Pad cell to quickly capture live or still
images.

Process Multiple Images at a Time

The Image Pad introduces an entire new dimension to image processing:
Multi-Image Processing. Choose an image processing function from the
Function-Bar, located on top of the Image Pad, click and drag over a group
of cells in the Image Pad to specify the images for processing, similarly
specify the image memory location to contain the processed images, press
the GO button in the Function-Bar, and all the images will be processed.
Frequently used operations such as image load from disk, image save to
disk, copy, delete, and zoom, are conveniently accessed in the Hot-Bar
buttons located directly on top of the Image Pad. Image processing is so
easy and immediate with the Image Pad, you'll wonder how you ever got
along without it!

A Powerful Solution for Image Storage and Retrieval

Select any group of images in image memory using the Image Pad. Press the
SAVE button on the Hot-Bar and the group of images will be stored in a
single TIFF file or headerless binary file. Loading any or all of the
images in a file is just as simple. This method is extremely useful for
storing and retrieving motion sequences.

Presentation Graphics Are a Snap

EYE can generate 3D colorimetric plots of pixel intensities, contour
mappings, histograms, profiles, and projections. The resulting bitmap
plots are easily exported to word-processing programs for inclusion in
reports.

Spatial Calibration of Image Plane

For analysis which requires absolute spatial scale, EYE includes a flexible
image co-ordinate system. The user can specify the keyboard or the mouse.
EYE allows the user to move the origin, as well as flip the orientation of
the axes.

Automatic Sampling

Points, lines and areas within the image can be monitored with EYE's
Measurements Tools. These tools provide repetitive capture and analysis of
image data. Analysis is either of: a single point, resulting in a chart
plot of pixel intensity with time; a line, producing a profile plot of
pixel values; or an area, generating a histogram of pixel values. These
acquire/analysis tols are indispensable for routine tasks, such as
focusing without a display monitor, or adjusting lighting conditions to
optimize use of digitization levels.

Extract and Process Positional Information

The Point List Tool provides a handy way of recording and analyzing X, Y
point positions. Pixel values, segment lengths, segment angles, and
polygon areas can be calculated from the set of points and exported to
other applications. The points can be entered by pointing and clicking in
an image or by importing them from another application. Additionally, the
points can be plotted and labelled within an image. Trajectory analysis,
and motion analysis are easily accomplished with this tool.

Harness the Power of Your Frame Grabber

If your frame grabber has it, we use it! Image processing routines have
been optimized to run directly on your frame grabber's processor (DSP,
GSP, or MPU), where possible, for the fastest possible results. Tools are
provided to control the input and output look-up tables, and the
Analog/Digital Converter, if present, on your frame grabber. EYE can
interface to RS-170, CCIR and the non-standard video sources supported by
your frame grabber.

Applications include general scientific and engineering image processing,
medical imaging, motion analysis, timed acquisition/display, and the
design of closed loop machine vision applications.
