KODAK'S NEW DIGITAL PRINTER PROVIDES XL QUALITY AT LOWER COST

ROCHESTER, N.Y., June 7--A new digital color printer joins the Kodak XL
printer family making high quality color output an affordable desktop
option. The Kodak XLS 8300 digital color printer offers high quality
raster prints at a mid-range price.

"We have seen the digital explosion expand the need for quality digital
output at all levels of quality," says Jim Patton, general manager and
vice president, Professional Imaging, U.S. and Canada Region. "This
printer offers many features similar to those of the XL 7700 and XLT 7720
printers. It's an excellent value at its price point."

Patton said that the raster file printer delivers outstanding, photo-like
print and transparency results in just over three minutes. The output
quality approaches that from the industry benchmark Kodak XL printers at
half their cost.

The new Rochester-made unit provides image sizes up to 8.5 x 10 inches.
Prints on the new XLS Ektatherm 100 paper are extremely durable, won't
scratch, smudge or fade. They also resist curling and have the look and
feel of photographic prints. The cost per print is about $2.50.

Input sources include digital cameras, scanners, image files from Photo CD
discs, and computer-generated files. The printer comes with export modules
for Adobe Photoshop on Macintosh computers and Aldus PhotoStyler on
PC-Microsoft Windows computers. According to Patton, Kodak plans to
develop third party relationships for other software drivers much as Kodak
has with the more than 100 software solutions for the XL 7700 and XLT 7720
printers.

"The XLS 8300 printer is designed as an affordable output companion for
users of digital image files. We see broad applications in
photojournalism, law enforcement, medical imaging, advertising, industrial
design, remote sensing and exploration for the new printer.

Imaging service bureaus will be able to offer competitively priced output
from customer files. System integrators and VARS will find that the XLS
8300 is an attractively priced output option to provide as part of a total
imaging system," Patton concluded.

The list price for the Kodak XLS 8300 digital color printer is $10,995. It
will be available in July through professional imaging electronics
products resellers who stock Kodak products.
