Multi-Tech Announces Stand-Alone and Networked Fax Software for the Windows
Environment

MOUNDS VIEW, MINNESOTA--May 24, 1993--Multi-Tech Systems, Inc., a leading
data communications technology company, announced today the release of its
fax communications for Windows. MultiExpressFax for Windows (MEWFAX) is
for use with an external or internal MultiTech data/fax modem. It will
operate with individual or shared modems connected to any Interrupt 6B or
14 Asynchronous Communications Server (ACS). MEWFAX is available for
immediate shipment at a retail price of $99.00 (U. S.).

According to Multi-Tech Systems president Raghu Sharma, "Since adding fax
capabilities into our modem line, we've experienced a corresponding
increase in fax software interest. The development of MultiExpressFax for
Windows software for both stand-alone and networked environments is our
response to that interest. When operating on a Novell LAN, MultiExpressFax
for Windows is an excellent companion product for our MultiExpressFax
Server. With this combination of products, LAN users may send faxes
directly from their LAN PCs, use a modem on the ACS, or let MultiExpress
Fax Server handle the task automatically."

The MEWFAX software installs easily under Microsoft Windows 3.1. MEWFAX
features include the ability to send faxes (with or without a cover
sheet), receive, review, and log individual and group faxes with all of
the simplicity and convenience of a graphical user interface. Users can
also schedule fax transmissions for times when the phone rates are lower.
MEWFAX lets users create "Phone Books" of related individuals and groups
which can be organized according to each user's preference. With the
"Forward" feature, one or more faxes can be automatically forwarded to one
or more recipients.

From the Fax Menu, users can elect to Send or Receive faxes, or Configure
MEWFAX parameters. With the "drag/drop" icon, one can send a fax directly
from the File Manager. After composing or selecting from one of several
page files, the user can preview the fax prior to transmission. Scheduled
fax transmissions can be cancelled, or rescheduled automatically when a
busy signal or transmission error is detected. In Receive fax mode, a full
report of current fax send and receive activities is available. Sent faxes
are logged for later viewing, and a note can be added to the fax for
future reference. Printing a received fax is as easy as specifying
parameters (either customized or default) and selecting page orientation
and paper size. The Phone Book lets a user scroll through a complete
listing of all MEWFAX Phone Books, Groups of individuals, or individual
fax recipients. There is even a feature that allows the user to import new
Phone Book members from other programs which store data in ASCII file
format. "Viewer" displays pending or received faxes, which can be
enlarged, reduced, flipped (upside-down), reversed (black-to-white and
back), or printed (either a single page or the entire fax).
