CHICAGO, Illinois-June 3, 1993--Speed Racer, one of the most successful
cartoons ever shown on American television, is making its way to the
computer entertainment industry. Accolade, a leading publisher of computer
and video game systems, is marking the debut of Speed Racer in "The
Challenge of Racer X TM" for IBM PC and compatible computers here at the
Summer Consumer Electronics Show. The product is scheduled to release in
September for IBM PC and compatible computers and in the first quarter of
1994 for the Sega Genesis and Super Nintendo. Accolade welcomes visitors
to their booth, #7131, for a demonstration of Speed Racer in "The
Challenge of Racer X" and to enjoy the nostalgia of the familiar "Go Speed
Racer Go" theme song.

True to the cartoon characters' personalities, players can assume the role
of the courageous teenage driver Speed Racer, racing the amazing Mach 5,
or choose to race as the mysterious Racer X and drive the Formula Race Car
"The Shooting Star." Ironically, Racer X is Speed's greatest competitor
and secret protector, and in reality is actually Rex Racer, Speed's older
brother who now works undercover as a top secret Interpol agent. To win
the race, players must match their skills and wits against many notorious
villains including Captain Terror, Snake Oiler, and the Gang of Assassins.
Players will test their driving skills on six race courses including
Danger Pass, the Snake Track, and the Valley of Destruction, each based on
a different Speed Racer cartoon episode.

Speed Racer's amazing Mach 5 is a supercharged stealth-mobile with more
personality and gadgets than any other car on the racing circuit. With a
push of the button, players can activate the "autojacks" to jump short
distances at high speeds, "belt tires" which are especially useful on oil
slicks or slippery terrain at high speeds, and "buzz saws" which prove the
Mach 5 is a cut above the rest for mowing down opponents and slashing
through obstacles.

Speed Racer in "The Challenge of Racer X" will incorporate the
personalities of the major characters from the cartoon series including
Speed Racer, his spunky girlfriend Trixie; his little brother, Spridle;
Speed's father and designer of the amazing Mach 5, Pops Racer; and the
mysterious Racer X. During each race, players will see the animated faces
and hear the digitized voices of the Speed Racer characters as they cheer
you on, comment on your progress, or alert you of danger.

Speed Racer is a cartoon character that became an instant hit when it first
appeared on American television in 1967. Accolade has an exclusive,
worldwide long-term licensing agreement with Speed Racer Enterprises to
develop and publish computer and video games based on the Classic Speed
Racer animated series as well as on the New Adventures of Speed Racer
animated series. The classic "Speed Racer" series is now airing on MTV,
and "The New Adventures of Speed Racer," is slated to air in syndication
this fall.

"Over 40 million fans grew up watching Speed Racer, and with the program
airing in syndication, we are very excited to introduce it to a brand new
audience," said James Rocknowski, Vice President of Licensing for Speed
Racer Enterprises. "It naturally lends itself to the computer and video
game arena and I'm pleased Accolade will be bringing it to market so that
Speed Racer fans everywhere can experience the thrill of racing Speed
Racer's incredible Mach 5."
