RAISED DOT COMPUTING SHIPS REVOLUTIONARY BRAILLE TRANSLATOR SYSTEM

MADISON WI., June 1, 1993 -- Raised Dot Computing, a leading vendor of
braille translation software, is shipping MegaDots, a revolutionary
braille translation program for the PC.

Braille uses a complex system of abbreviations (called contractions) to
shorten the length of a document. The rules for the use of these
contractions are based more on pronunciation and usage than on spelling.
MegaDots knows these rules and can make very high quality braille with
minimal effort. Braille output from a computer requires a braille printing
peripheral device.

Previous braille production methods (manual and computer assisted) required
a high degree of background knowledge about braille. With the advent of
ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) legislation, it is essential to make
braille and braille production more accessible to all those who want to
produce braille.

MegaDots uses a style-based word processor for formatting. Since the styles
contain inkprint and braille formatting information, the act of formatting
for inkprint is the same as formatting for braille. MegaDots recognizes
and imports from over 90 different file formats with a "smart importer",
which guesses the paragraph styles.

As a demonstration project, MegaDots was used to translate the text of War
and Peace (over 3 million keystrokes) into accurate braille in 80 seconds
with a 33 Mhz 486 computer.

MegaDots is loaded with advanced features such as automatic table
formatting. MegaDots offers an easy-to-use user interface for both blind
and sighted.

MegaDots costs $500. Competitive upgrades from other braille translation
products (Hot Dots, BEX, and Duxbury) are available--contact Raised Dot
Computing for details. A demonstration disk is available at no charge.
Product literature about MegaDots is available at no charge in print,
audio, and braille.

Raised Dot Computing also sells products that allow blind persons to use
computers effectively. Raised Dot sells the Flipper screen access program,
the ASAP screen access program, the DoubleTalk speech synthesizer, the
Audapter speech synthesizer, and computer-driven braille embossers. Raised
Dot Computing is located at 408 South Baldwin Street, Madison, WI; 53703;
