StatSci and Mihalisin Associates Agree to Integrate Products;
New Range of MultiVariate Data Analysis Techniques to be Offered

Seattle, Washington- June 15, 1993 - Statistical Sciences (StatSci)
announced today that Mihalisin Associates of Ambler Pennsylvania has
joined StatSci's Value Added Reseller Program. TempleMVV, Mihalisin
Associates' multivariate data visualization product will integrate S-PLUS
StatSci's popular statistical and graphical data analysis application, and
be resold through Mihalisin Associates.

TempleMVV (MVV stands for MultiVariate Visualization), allows users to
graph multivariate data in a variety of unique hierarchical
representations, each suited to a particular data analysis task. Developed
originally at Temple University in Philadelphia, PA, TempleMVV is
particularly valuable when there is a need to analyze very large datasets.
TempleMVV's interactive visual data analysis routines perform
independently of the number of records, hence a low-end workstation can
analyze data involving millions of records in real-time.

"TempleMVV's patent pending method of visualizing large multivariate
datasets fits nicely with S-PLUS's methodology. S-PLUS's rich set of
analytic functions provide quantitative analysis capabilities that
compliment Temple MVV's visual analysis approach. " Dr. Ted Mihalisin, CEO
Mihalisin Associates

"The StatSci and Mihalisin Associates relationship offers data analysts
tools with a depth not provided anywhere else. S-PLUS and TempleMVV are
enabling technologies that will be required to discover important
information hidden in large sets of data. " -- Matthew J. Schiltz,
President, Statistical Sciences Inc

According to Dr. Mihalisin, "The technology incorporated in TempleMVV will
have a major impact on several important software applications besides
statistical analysis." In particular Dr. Mihalisin stated that linking
TempleMVV and S-PLUS will impact multi-dimensional spreadsheets, DBMS,
GIS, scientific/business visualization and decision support systems. He
also noted that the technology should be of particular interest to
insurance, banking, telecommunications, electric utilities, financial
services, and market research organizations.

TempleMVV is currently available on SUN SPARCStations and Silicon Graphics
Workstations. Microsoft Windows and Macintosh versions are scheduled for
later release in 1993. Ports to other UNIX platforms and supercomputing
machines are planned in 1994.

Mihalisin Associates was founded in 1987 to market, support and enhance a
variety of software packages originally developed at Temple University.
It's TempleGraph line of software is in use at hundred of organizations in
21 countries. TempleMVV, which is based on Temple University's patent
pending technology was released in November 1992.

StatSci was founded in 1987 to market, support and enhance S-PLUS, a
revolutionary data analysis tool that combines more than 1,200
statistical, mathematical and graphical functions with an object-oriented
programming language and is currently the choice of data analysts
worldwide. S-PLUS is used at thousands of organizations including AT&T,
Boeing, HewlettPackard, Ford, General Motors and Kodak.
