New Brochure Helps Users Differentiate Between LabVIEW Graphical Software
and LabWindows Automatic Code-Generation Software for Instrumentation
Applications

July 1, 1993 -- Austin, TX - National Instruments announced today a new
four-page, full-color brochure, "How to Select Your Instrumentation
Software," which highlights LabVIEW graphical programming software for
Windows-based PCs, Sun SPARCstations, and Macintosh computers and
LabWindows automatic code-generation software for DOS-based PCs. The free
brochure assists engineers and scientists in determining their needs, then
selecting the software that best suits those needs for automating their
instrumentation applications.

LabVIEW and LabWindows simplify the development of application programs
without sacrificing flexibility and ease of use. With these software
packages, users can quickly and easily build custom display panels to
present data with a wide variety of graphs, strip charts, and controls.
Data acquisition (DAQ) libraries control over 300 GPIB, VXI, and RS-232
instruments, as well as the company's plug-in DAQ, digital signal
processing, and signal conditioning hardware.

Although both packages have similar capabilities, they differ in
programming technology. LabVIEW is an icon-based, graphical programming
system that uses dataflow programming technology. LabWindows is based on
industry-standard programming languages with interactive code generation
and built-in debugging capabilities for traditional C and BASIC
programmers.
