Matinee, The First Full-Motion-Video Screen Saver,
Now Available in CD-ROM

BERKELEY, CA, May 24, 1993--Access Softek today announced the June release
of the CD-ROM version of Matinee, its highly reviewed screen saver. The
first full-motion-video screen saver for Windows 3.1, Matinee brings the
software entertainment industry to a new standard in graphic realism.
Until now, entertainment products were limited to bitmapped graphics that
didn't satisfy the sophisticated visual expectations of the TV Generation.
Matinee breaks the bitmap barrier and delivers the high-quality graphics
that users expect. Using a powerful, new video compression technology,
which requires no extra multimedia hardware, Matinee brings
television-quality images to users' screens, while maintaining the fun,
interactive features of good entertainment software. According to Access
Softek's Product Marketing Director Ann Burgraff, "Full-motion video will
shake up the $340 million entertainment software business. It's the most
significant breakthrough since color."

Matinee's users create customized mini-movies by selecting from 38
full-color and black-and-white video clips. The new CD-ROM version
includes over 250 clips, in categories ranging from bikinis and biceps to
nostalgia, sci fi, horror, and more. From contemplative chimps to
blood-hungry vampires, there are clips to satisfy every taste, mood, image
or craving. Celebrate a success, for example, by launching a NASA rocket
right on your screen. Let the deadly grin of a killer shark remind you of
an upcoming deadline. Or indulge your secret ambitions: swing breathlessly
through space with trapeze artists, claim the moon with Neil Armstrong,
hang ten off the Hawaiian coast. Plus there are wacky cartoons, gorgeous
go-go dancers, gruesome monsters and more.

Creating or changing a Matinee movie is as easy as using a mouse. Users
simply drag and drop clips--in any order they choose--from the movie
library to the movie film strip. There are no limits on the way clips can
be displayed. Plus, Matinee's preview feature lets users double check
selections before activating the screen saver. The product includes three
stylish backdrops to personalize each mini-movie, and users can design
their own displays by importing art. Matinee, which retails for $49.95,
requires Windows 3.1, a 386SX/DX-based system with at least 20 MHz, and a
256-color display. Matinee for CD-ROM retails for $59.95 and requires a
CD-ROM player. Clips can be installed onto the user's hard drive or played
directly off the CDROM.
