HOUGHTON MIFFLIN COMPANY and PIONEER ANNOUNCE AVAILABILITY OF CHANNEL
R.E.A.D. LASERDISC SYSTEM BUNDLE

July 21, 1993--Boston, MA--Houghton Mifflin and Pioneer New Media
Technologies, Inc. jointly announce the availability of the first reading
videodisc bundle. The bundle will include a single title from the Channel
R.E.A.D. videodisc series, The Case of the Missing Mystery Writer, a
Pioneer CLD-V2400 LaserDisc player with remote control, a Pioneer
UC-V109BC barcode reader and membership in the Pioneers in Learning Club.

Last month at the National Educational Computing Conference (NECC),
Houghton Mifflin announced the release of the Channel R.E.A.D. Videodisc
Series. The videodisc program offers 15 entertaining and dramatic
adventures which are designed to help third through eighth grade students
improve reading comprehension and written and oral communication skills.

The special combination of instructional materials and technology is
designed to provide a high degree of value to teachers of elementary and
middle school reading. The bundled items, if purchased separately, would
cost educators nearly $1400. The bundle can be purchased either through
Houghton Mifflin sales representatives or Pioneer resellers. The suggested
retail price is $995. A special educators price, available only through
Houghton Mifflin is $895. The offer expires on June 30,1994.
