Announcing . . . The Shareware Vendor's Companion from Cryer Software

Have you tried almost every kind of database and invoice program there is
trying to find a program to run your shareware/public domain business?
Well you can stop looking for that perfect program, now available is The
Shareware Vendor's Companion. For the shareware vendor there is nothing
like it, or anything that even compares to it.

Over 3 1/2 years went into the planning and development of The Shareware
Vendor's Companion. It is not just some program that you can make do with,
it is a custom program written just for the shareware vendor.

The program is very powerful but still is very easy to use. The program is
large, the main EXE file is almost 1 meg is size but yet the program is
very fast loading. To allow such a program this size to run within 640k
memory the program makes excellent use of memory overlays. When the
program is ran it opens 16 fully relationalship database files. With all
the data, memo, and key(index) files that will be opened you will need to
update your CONFIG.SYS with a minimum of FILES=70 in it. There is more
than 150 screens or windows in the program that display or pop-up for
entering, searching, retrieving, or updating data. There are more than 200
data fields within the program. There are more than 250 help screens so
help is just a key stroke away at anytime.

The program is written mainly for the small to medium size shareware
vendor, you know the companies with less than a million dollars a year in
sales. I say it is written mainly for the small to medium size vendors
because I assume the giant companies have already gone to a lot of expense
to have a custom program written just for their needs. But if you are one
of these million dollar a year companies you are also welcome to take a
look at this program, l almost bet it will still run circles around
anything you are using now.

WHAT MAKES THIS PROGRAM SPECIAL

The program is well designed for speed and is extremely fast even on the XT
computer. Of course if you have a 286 it will be much faster, and if you
have 386 or 486 computer the program will fly.

The program is very user-friendly. All options are menu driven and written
in plain English. There are no complex commands to learn or remember.

The program is so simple to use that after playing with it for less than 1
hour you should have it mastered.

The search commands within the program are unbelievably fast no matter how
large your mailing list is or how many invoices are entered.

When entering an invoice the program pulls the name and address from the
customer file (mailing list file) into the invoice.

If needed you can easily add or correct a customer file from within the
invoice part of the program.

After entering a new invoice the customer file is update with total number
of times the customer has ordered and the total dollar amount of the
orders.

The program tracks the date every time someone requests a catalog from you.
You may want to know if someone has requested several catalogs from you in
the past but has never placed a order. If you charge a fee for a catalog
the program can keep track of that too.

The program also tracks each time someone requests a demo disk from you. It
will keep track of any fee charged for the disk or for shipping and
handling. So if you are one of those vendors who advertises a demo disk
and catalog for a fee the program can easily handle this type of entry.

The program counts the shareware/public domain disks for you that you enter
into an invoice. You won't have to use your finger anymore to point to the
screen and count how many disks the customer just ordered from you.

The program can keep track of the date a shareware program was first added
to your library and the date is was last updated. This would be useful if
you included in your catalogs which disks are new and which ones have been
updated since the last catalog printing.

The program keeps track of the last invoice printed so you can easily print
out only the new invoices that have been entered along with the shipping
labels and disk labels.

The program keeps track of the last date you printed out labels for new
catalog requests so you can easily print out only the new ones.

The program can automatically print disk labels for 5.25 and/or 3.50 disks
using the same numbers that were entered into the invoices. So if you want
disks labels printed there is no retyping disk numbers again since they
are already entered into the invoice, it can use these numbers for the
look-up when printing the labels.

The program automatically checks for duplicate records when entering new
customer and/or author records. It will not allow you to enter duplicate
records.

The program automatically supplies unique customer id numbers and invoice
numbers originally set by you.

The program has a letter writer for writing, storing, and printing letters.
It easily pulls the name and address from either the customer file or from
the author file(software publisher file) into the letter. You can also
easily print envelopes and/or address labels for the letter.

It does not matter if you carry software for one computer or carry software
for every computer there is, the program is capable of handling this.

There is no limit to the number of shareware or public domain disks that
can be entered into your master file for disks.

There is no limit to the number of categories you can create for your
master disk file.

There is no limit to the number of miscellaneous items that can be entered
into your master file for items.

There is no limit to the number of disks or items that can be entered into
an invoice, so if a customer would order every disk or every item you had
it would be no problem to create a invoice for them.

There is no limit to the number of records that can be entered into the
mailing list files or into the invoice file. So if you need to add records
in the millions or beyond it can be done. Note: It may require that Cryer
Software to lengthen the Id# and Inv# fields to made room for longer
digits?

The program has a screen saver built in, it will blank you screen if the
program is not in use for 10 minutes. Pressing any key will then restore
your screen.

The program has an author file (software publisher file) that keeps track
of all the shareware authors. You can keep track of the authors that sends
you programs and the ones that don't. You can keep track of the authors
that you have added their programs in your library and you can also keep
track of the ones where you didn't include their programs. You can also
keep track of the last time the author sent you updates. And by simply
pressing a button will display all the programs you have in your library
form an author.

The invoice part of the program is mainly designed for entering shareware
or public domain disks into an invoice, but it is also very capable of
handling anything you might sell. So if you also sell books, blank disks,
software packages, hardware, etc this is no problem. When entering
shareware disks sold into a invoice all you type is the disk number and
the program will look up all other information. When entering
miscellaneous items into the invoice you type the item number and quantity
sold and the program will look up the price and description. You can
easily enter 5.25 shareware disks, 3.50 shareware disks, and miscellaneous
items sold into the same invoice.

The program can keep track of advertisement codes for each catalog request
or for each order. You can know which of your ads are worth repeating or
if a mailing has paid off.

With most reports you will have a choice to either send it to the screen or
to the printer.

When reports are sent to the screen you can use the up and down arrows to
scroll through the report on the screen. You can also use the page up and
down keys to move a page at a time. This is very handy, reports viewed on
the screen that you can even scroll backwards.

New reports can be added to the program without having a new program
upgrade.

There will also be 4 data utilities included with the registered version
for converting, sorting, and manipulating data. The are: Converter, Filer,
Scanner, and Sorter. With the Converter you can easily import and export
data to and from other programs.

Everything you could think of should be covered in this program, and it was
designed so you can find any type of information fast. So if someone calls
you up on your 800 number and asks questions like: I am looking for a
program that I can't find in your catalog do you have it? What is latest
version of that program you have? Who is the author of that program? What
other programs do you have by that same author? I am looking for a word
processor do you have one? What other word processors do you have? I want
to check the status of my order? I would like that order shipped to a
different address but I don't want a permanent address change in your
mailing list, can you do that? I called last week to request a new
catalog, has it been mailed yet? Did you also send a catalog to my friend?
Did you get my new change of address? All this information plus lots more
can be found or entered at lighting speed.

The list of features for this program goes on and on. Almost anything you
could think of has already been thought of and are included in this
program. If all of these features listed now sound good, just wait until
you discover the power of the program for yourself and what is planned for
the near future.

If at anytime you may need technical support you will receive it directly
from me, Rusty Cryer, the author of The Shareware Vendor's Companion.
