COMPUSERVE INFORMATION MANAGER PRE-INSTALLED ON READY PERSONAL COMPUTERS
FROM NEC

COLUMBUS, Ohio, October 19, 1993 -- Personal computers from NEC
Technologies are the latest to come pre-installed with the CompuServe
Information Manager for Windows (WinCIM), the graphical interface for the
CompuServe Information Service. The new Ready 425es, Ready 433es, and
Ready 466es systems are designed for the small office and home office
market. Ready systems are set up to be usable immediately out of the box,
as they come pre-installed with the Windows operating system, a modem, and
several small business applications as well as WinCIM. CIM provides
purchasers of these PCs with instant access to CompuServe, the leading
worldwide online information service with more than 1,700 databases and
services.

Using windows, pull-down menus and dialog boxes, WinCIM makes it easy to
access and use the wide variety of information available on CompuServe.
"NEC's Ready series will be very easy for home and small office users to
begin working with, and by making WinCIM available pre-installed, we make
access to CompuServe just as easy," said CompuServe Marketing Manager
Michael Horwitz. CIM is also available for the Macintosh and MS-DOS
environments.

A special membership offer also is included with each NEC Ready computer.
New CompuServe members receive one free month of unlimited usage of
CompuServe's 47 basic services (an $8.95 value), a $15 usage credit for
any of the 1,700 extended services, and a free subscription to CompuServe
Magazine, a monthly publication for members.

"NEC is pleased to offer CompuServe's online information services with the
Ready Series of Multimedia PCs," said Brian Mullins, NEC's Ready marketing
manager. "We believe both small office and home office multimedia PC users
will benefit from the worldwide, timely information CompuServe provides.
We look forward to continuing our productive relationship with
CompuServe."

CIM is available pre-installed on the hard drives of many personal
computers, including PC Brand, Inc., Swan Technologies, Advanced Logic
Research, Inc., CompuAdd, Hyundai, AST, and NCR/ATT. In addition, CIM is
included with the purchase of Gateway personal computers and modems.

CompuServe members pay $8.95 per month for unlimited connect-time access to
47 basic services. More than 1,700 extended services are available on a
pay-as-you-go basis for $8/hour when accessing CompuServe with a 1200 or
2400 bits per second modem and $16/hour at 9.6 or 14.4 kilobits per
second. For additional information, please call 800/848-8]99.
