Books That Work Announces Winner of First Design & Build Your Deck - Deck
Design Contest

Second Desk Design Contest Will Be Held This Fall

PALO ALTO, CA, Oct. 13, 1993 - Books That Work announced today the winner
of the contest that makes dream decks come true. Dave Moench, a sales
manager from Eagan, Minnesota, won the contest and will receive all the
building materials necessary to execute his winning deck design created
with Books That Work's premiere software product, Design & Build Your
Deck. Hundreds of entries were widdled down to four finalists that were
judged by the California Redwood Association on the designer's ability to
visualize and design a deck best suited to his/her specific environment,
and to best utilize the program. Moench won all the redwood lumber and
hardware needed to build the deck, a Black & Decker circular saw and
drill, Vermont American saw blades and drill bits, Flood deck finish, and
Osmose deck screws and stains.

"Planning my deck was incredibly simple using Design & Build Your Deck,"
says Moench. "I found the reference section especially helpful. If I had a
question or didn't know how to execute an idea, I went to the reference
section and learned."

Books That Work is holding a second deck design contest this fall. To
qualify entrants must check the contest box on the registration card, and
plan their deck using the program. Entries should include printouts of the
Top View (with Rulers), 3-D View, the software-generated Parts List, a
list of any additional materials needed, sketches of any modifications
required, a color photograph of the site for the deck (including the
house, if applicable), and a description of how the program was most
helpful. Entries must be postmarked by January 31, 1993, and should be
sent to Books That Work, 285 Hamilton, Suite 260, Palo Alto, CA 94301.
