ADVANSTAR PURCHASES HIGH COLOR MAGAZINE
Publication to be Renamed, Upped to Monthly Frequency

CLEVELAND, OH - October 12, 1993 - Advanstar Communications has acquired
High Color magazine, a targeted computer graphics and video publication,
from Imagetech Publications, Inc., Camden, Maine. The magazine will be
relocated to the Santa Ana, CA, and Eugene, OR, offices of Advanstar.
Publisher Michael Forcillo and Editor Lafe Low plan to move with the
magazine.

High Color was founded in 1992 as a bimonthly serving graphic artists,
business presentation professionals, advertising agencies and others who
use computer graphics, desktop video, and multimedia applications on the
PC platform. It is the only publication of its kind targeted specifically
to the IBM-PC and compatible graphics user.

"The Windows-based PC graphics phenomenon promises to fuel incredible
growth in this market segment in the next five years," notes David Allen
Shaw, Advanstar group publisher. "We see this magazine poised to lead this
growth, and Advanstar is prepared to invest in the magazine to position it
appropriately in terms of circulation, editorial content and overall
marketing."

Beginning with the January/February 1994 issue, the magazine will be titled
PC Graphics & Video to better reflect its market position and the growth
of the industry. With the May 1994 issue, the magazine will increase to
monthly frequency to better serve the needs of readers and advertisers.

Michael Forcillo, founder and publisher, looks forward to the opportunities
afforded by the Advanstar acquisition. "We've brought High Color a long
way in a short time," he says. "The capitalization, expertise and
resources - as well as synergies with other communications properties
-that Advanstar brings will allow us to reposition, rename and revitalize
the magazine, helping us to stay ahead of the industry's growth curve. I
look forward to leading PC Graphics & Video into the future as a bigger,
better monthly."

PC Graphics & Video will share operations and marketing with CADalyst, a
monthly magazine serving users of AutoCAD, the premier computer-aided
design software program. Both of these magazines are part of a growing
group of entertainment, interactive media and computer publications,
seminars and newsletters owned by Advanstar. This group includes Video
Store Magazine, Voice Processing Magazine, InfoText, Response TV,
Hollywood Aftermarket, and The AIM (Advanstar Interactive Media) Report,
as well as the Hollywood 2000 and Silicon Interactive conferences.

Advanstar assumes publication of High Color with the November/December 1993
issue. Editorial operations will relocate to Eugene, OR, and additional
staff members will be hired there. Sales and marketing will relocate to
Santa Ana, CA. Advertising representative Scott Fackert will remain on the
East Coast for the magazine. West Coast representation will be headed by
Forcillo.
