ISRAELI UNIVERSITY SYSTEM CHOOSES NCD'S PC-XWARE TO LET PERSONAL COMPUTERS
ACCESS X WINDOW APPLICATIONS

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Oct. 11, 1993 -- Israel's national university system
has selected PC-Xware, from Network Computing Devices, Inc., as a means
for enabling its networked personal computers to access X Window System
applications.

The selection was made by the Machba, a consortium of the seven Israeli
universities charged with setting computing standards for use by the
universities. The agreement was handled through NCD's Israeli distributor,
Netcom Limited, of Tel Aviv.

The universities, which have been using NCD X terminal products since 1989,
are expected to install some 1,000 copies of NCD's PC-Xware software over
the next year. PC-Xware gives users of PCs running Microsoft Windows full
access to X applications on UNIX- or VMS-based host computers, allowing
side-by-side display of PC and X applications. The agreement also includes
a smaller number of copies of an earlier NCD software product, PC-Xview,
which performs the same function for users of DOS-based PCs.

A Machba representative said, "When NCD ported its advanced X terminal
software to PCs to create PC-Xware, we realized it would allow us to
handle both terminals and PC X servers under a single management umbrella.
This, along with PC-Xware's easy-to-use remote configuration capability
and integral terminal emulator, convinced us to make our selection."

Judy Estrin, NCD president and chief executive officer, said, "PC-Xware has
gained momentum beyond our expectations since its introduction four months
ago. Being the only vendor to offer both X terminals and PC X servers
gives us a real advantage with users who have installations that contain
both, and who can finally manage them in an integrated manner."

Network Computing Devices, Inc., formed in February 1988, supplies X Window
System products which provide simultaneous access to networked
multi-vendor computers via workstation-style graphical user interfaces.
NCD is the leading worldwide supplier of X terminals, with a broad family
of color and monochrome X terminals in various screen sizes and
performance levels. The company's PC-X Division makes X server software
products for DOS and Microsoft Windows-based PCs, which integrate PCs into
X Window System environments.
