SOFTWARE PUBLISHERS ASSOCIATION TO DONATE $100,000 FOR COMPUTER JOB SKILLS
TRAINING

Chicago, IL, October 12, 1993. ..The Software Publishers Association (SPA)
today announced that ten nonprofit groups will each receive a cash grant
of $ 10,000. The grant is established to provide unemployed Americans an
opportunity to build computer skills that will enable them to participate
fully in the workforce.

This SPA Community Challenge Grant Program will support one nonprofit
providing computer skills training in each of these cities: Chicago, IL;
Des Moines, IA, Flint, MI; Las Cruces, NM; Los Angeles, CA; Miami, FL; New
York City, NY; Salt Lake City, UT; Washington, DC; and Wheeling, WV.

"Computing skills are crucial in today's workforce. Our grant program
targets ten cities that have experienced corporate downsizing or layoffs
because they have large pools of workers who require computer skills to
effectively compete in today's job market," explained Ken Wasch, Executive
Director, Software Publishers Association.

The grant is being coordinated through Gifts In Kind America, the leading
nonprofit in the field of product philanthropy. Matching funds or
resources must be generated by the recipients as a criteria for selection.
Final recipients will be announced in late December, 1993.

"This invaluable grant from the Software Publishers Association will
strengthen community efforts to combat unemployment and enable nonprofit
organizations to expand the quality and scope of their computer skills
training for the disadvantaged," said Susan Corrigan, President and CEO,
Gifts In Kind America.

The Software Publishers Association is the principal trade association of
the PC software industry, and is dedicated to broad and equal access to
