PROGRAM TARGETS 100,000 CHARITIES NATIONWIDE

Chicago, IL, October 12, 1993...The Software Publishers Association (SPA)
announced today at its annual conference an industry-wide initiative to
encourage donations of technology to 100,000 charities by the year 2000.

The SPA has partnered with Gifts In Kind America, the leading nonprofit in
the field of product philanthropy, to expand the donation of software to
community-based nonprofits nationwide. This year alone, more than 80,000
packages of current-version software, at a retail value of more than $16.8
million have been donated for distribution through Gifts In Kind America.

"The high-tech industry recognizes the critical need of nonprofits to
benefit from and incorporate technology into their operations. By putting
the best our industry has to offer into the hands of these capable
organizations, we will ultimately benefit all those who are aided by the
programs of our nation's nonprofit organizations," explained Katherine
Borsecnik, VP of Operations, Software Publishers Association.

The donations are distributed to health and human services, community
development, educational, environmental as well as arts and cultural
