Provides the Finest Professional Editor for Windows (Intel, MIPS & DEC
Alpha)

October 4, 1993 -- (Seattle, Wash.) -- Wilson WindowWare, Inc. today
announced WinEdit 3.0, the professional powerful, text editor for
Microsoft Windows. It operates on Intel based systems and networks running
Windows 3.1 and Windows NT, and both of the first non-Intel NT platforms:
the DEC Alpha and MIPS based RISC systems.

WinEdit is the choice of many thousands of professionals and programmers
for ASCII text and program editing. WinEdit comes in three levels:
"Professional," "Standard" and "Lite." Only the Professional version
supports Windows NT.

WinEdit Lite, Standard and Professional provide up to 16MB file capacity,
multiple open windows (cascade or tile), headers, footers, page numbers,
dual page printing in landscape mode, 2000 level undo and redo, file
merge, find and replace using regular expressions, auto indent, column
selection, word wrap, selectable fonts, keystroke record and playback, a
floating button bar, Windows 3.1 drag and drop, and on-line help for all
major program features. WinEdit remembers many important details: the last
25 files accessed, the last 20 search and replaces, windows placements,
etc. Keyboard reassignment can be made for command keys, which are then
shown on menus as accelerator keys. The location of the back up (.BAK)
file is configurable, and read-only and network shared access files are
supported.

WinEdit Standard and Professional are serious software developments tools
that add project management capabilities for program compile, make,
execute, debug and rebuild, viewing and saving program output and compiler
warnings and error messages (and automatically positioning the source
file), saving multiple setups, hypertext links to all popular Windows Help
libraries with access to language help by clicking on key words, and an
API to custom DLLs that can redefine WinEdit menus and add accelerator
keys or additional functions. WinEdit Standard and Professional are
pre-configured to support developers using: Microsoft C, C++, Basic,
Assembler, WinSDK, DOS Batch, WIN NT Command File and Basic; Borland C++,
Assembler and Pascal; Symantec/Zortech and Watcom C++; dBase, Clipper,
FoxPro, PVCS Version Control, and the WIL Script Language. WinEdit
Standard and Professional are configurable to support additional
programming languages and tools as needed.

WinEdit Standard and Professional provide "syntax coloring" for many
development languages so as to immediately present code elements in the
most direct way possible. According to Steven Schauer, Chief Developer of
WinEdit at Wilson WindowWare: "WinEdit's syntax coloring is the slickest
implementation on the planet. It provides support for keywords, comments
and literals, and it's completely extensible and configurable so that
users can get exactly the presentation that they want for their
programming language."

Using WinEdit Professional, development can be automated using the rich and
widely accepted WIL Script Language, which is used in products from Intel,
Symantec, Graphical Dynamics and others. Paul Bonner in PC/Computing said
"WIL ... has become the most widely used Windows systems-automation
language." Over 100 editor functions and over 200 Windows environment
functions are capable of automating a wide variety of applications
including program, file and system management, multimedia devices, image
capture and transfer, and network controls. Macro recording under WinEdit
Professional can generate ASCII WIL Scripts for editing and building
sophisticated systems. DDE and OLE 2.0 Automation (so that another
application can be controlled from WinEdit Professional) are supported via
the WIL.

Compared to other editors, WinEdit is the easiest to use, the most
configurable, has the best macro language and the best compiler support.
PC Week rated an earlier version of WinEdit the highest in their
comparison of Windows-based editors.

WinEdit Lite is priced at $29.95, WinEdit Standard is priced at $59.95,
WinEdit Professional is priced at $89.95, and WinEdit Professional for
Windows NT is priced at $129.95. Update pricing varies from $ 15 to $ 100
according to the version being upgraded from and to.

WinEdit 3.0 is immediately available and runs on any Windows 3.1 or NT
compatible PC.
