ZByte High Tech Playing Cards

Playing cards continue to be the foremost tool of the game player. This is
proof of the grandeur of the original design--basically unchanged for 500
years. ZByte is a revolutionary idea in playing cards that improves the
ancient design with modern concepts of computers while preserving
compatibility for playing all the wonderful games that have evolved over
the centuries.

ZByte cards have binary elements and high-tech suits with functional
meaning derived from nineteenth-century logic and twentieth-century
technology. The suits of ordinary playing cards were invented in
fifteenth-century France: trefle (club), carreau (diamond), pique (spade),
and coeur (heart). Their meanings, if any, play no role in card games
today--the four ancient suits function only as separators. In contrast,
ZByte suits not only serve as separation signs but also have universal
meanings of their own that open up the possibility for a new generation of
card games.

ZByte players may engage in traditional games, such as Solitaire, Black
Jack, Poker, and Gin Rummy, or may create and play ZByte games. ZByte's 52
cards include the standard "two" through "ten" number cards, aces, jacks,
queens, and kings, but also include four special suits and two robot "IF"
jokers. The enclosed 32-page book has rules for eleven new games that
demonstrate the special suits and it has instructions for ZByte game
designers.

The ZByte deck provides both entertainment and education in the
fundamentals of computers and basic logic. ZByte also features fractal
computer art and its face cards are the following historical figures from
the world of science and computers: Agnesi, Germain, Lovelace, Somerville,
Babbage, Boole, Leibniz, and Pascal.

The sharpening of logic and math skills is critical for any high-tech
culture. ZByte supports this goal in a novel way. Thus, ZByte may be the
playing card deck of choice for twenty-first-century players.
