NEW WIRELESS LAN ADAPTER GIVES USERS PLUG-AND-PLAY MOBILITY

Solectek's AIRLAN/PCMCIA Supports Roaming Notebook Users

SAN DIEGO, November 1, 1993 -- Solectek Corp. introduced today
AIRLAN/PCMCIA, the newest member of its AIRLAN wireless Ethernet product
family. Designed for use with PCMCIA equipped notebook computers, AIRLAN
makes possible mobile LAN connections which allow users the freedom to
move about their workplace unencumbered by power cords or network cables.
As a result, users are capable of staying linked to the LAN while they
roam within a building. In addition to extending cabled networks, AIRLAN
is ideally suited for creating entire wireless LANs or temporary field
networks.

AIRLAN operates at 2 Mbps and supports all major network operating systems
including Novell NetWare, Artisoft LANtastic and Microsoft Windows for
Workgroups. It uses proven spread spectrum 915 MHz radio technology to
pass data through walls, ceilings and floors. No line-of-sight operation
is required. Its tiny omni-directional antenna provides complete coverage
up to 800 feet, and even further when used with Solectek's AIRLAN/Hub
access point.

AIRLAN weighs only 5.25 ounces and is small enough to fit in a purse or
pocket. Unlike LAN adapters which require cabling, installing AIRLAN is
easy. Users simply plug the external adapter into any PCMCIA slot (Type
II, Release 2.0), and then follow menu-driven configuration instructions.
No external AC power or cabling is required. The antenna comes with a self
mounting bracket for easy connection to the notebook. Within minutes, all
the services of the network are available to an AIRLAN equipped notebook,
no matter where it is.

Once in use, AIRLAN provides instant feedback to the user. The adapter has
green LED indicators which let users know when they have a connection.
While in operation, the AIRLAN adapter automatically indicates activity
status, showing a green light when data is transmitted and received.

AIRLAN complies with the IEEE 802.3 Ethernet standard and provides seamless
compatibility between wired and wireless local area networks. Once
connected, its operation is completely transparent. AIRLAN is also
compatible with the full range of Solectek, DEC and NCR wireless
products.

AIRLAN's suggested retail price is $699. It is scheduled to ship this
November and will be available from Tech Data, Ingram Micro and Merisel,
and leading resellers nationwide. Solectek offers toll-free support and a
30 Day Money Back Guarantee.

Solectek Corp., a privately held company, is a leading manufacturer and
