CHEYENNE SOFTWARE ANNOUNCES ARCSERVE/OPEN FOR SCO UNIX V1.1

Improved Data Security Through Enhanced Mission Critical Functions

ROSLYN HEIGHTS, NEW YORK, August 16, 1993- - - Cheyenne Software, Inc.
(AMEX:CYE) the industry leader of LAN backup software for Novell NetWare,
announced today the availability of its newest version of ARCserve/Open
for SCO UNIX (version 1.1), an automated UNIX-based backup and restore
software application for microcomputers. This latest achievement
incorporates enhancements to ARCserve/Open's mission critical functions to
provide greater data security, increased flexibility and improved
performance.

Version 1.1 of ARCserve/Open provides a sophisticated disaster recovery
program. This feature provides the ability to restore the UNIX environment
without reinstalling the operating system and reconfiguring system
resources via the Boot Time Loadable Driver.

ARCserve/Open's compatibility with currently shipping Agent Options offered
by Cheyenne for the UNIX environment (Uagents), now provides backup and
restore capabilities to heterogeneous enterprises. ARCserve/Open uses
TCP/IP to extend data protection services to nodes on the network running
Uagents on the following systems: SCO UNIX, Univel UnixWare, SunSoft
Solaris, IBM AIX, HP/UX, DEC Ultrix, and Interactive UNIX.

ARCserve/Open incorporates an advanced File Tracking System (FTS) allowing
users to quickly find files for restoration without searching backup
tapes. Version 1.1 increases backup speeds and the FTS search by up to
50%. ARCserve/Open now supports a greater number of available tape drives
and host adapters, including all host adapters supported by SCO UNIX.

ARCserve/Open, available since September 1992, was Cheyenne's first entry
into the UNIX environment. It offers automation, reliability and
performance to the backup operation, which can be performed while
remaining in the background or in real time. Several methods of back up
and restore are available: all files, incremental based on the file access
date, or incremental based on the date/time stamp. ARCserve/Open's data
verification capabilities can supply confirmation of successful, complete
backup jobs while its powerful queue management features allows scheduled
jobs to be modified.

ARCserve/Open for SCO UNIX V1.1 is available through Cheyenne's worldwide
distribution network at a U.S. retail price of $495.00.
