ARCSERVE 5.0 FOR NETWARE - WINDOWS EDITION

The Next Generation of the Industry's Leading Data Management Software

ROSLYN HEIGHTS, NEW YORK, October 27, 1993 - - - Cheyenne Software, Inc.
(AMEX:CYE) announced today that it has been successfully shipping since
June 1993, through worldwide distribution, the most powerful
enterprise-wide backup solution available in the market today, ARCserve
5.0 for NetWare-Windows Edition. ARCserve Windows Edition represents the
next generation of the industry's leading client/server backup and
recovery software. Now available in both DOS (version 4.0) and Windows
(version 5.0) Editions, ARCserve is suitable for single-server or large
multiserver Novell NetWare 3.11 or 4.0 networks.

The ARCserve Windows Edition "point and click" interface minimizes the
complexities typically associated with a backup and recovery operation,
further strengthening the product's position as a high-performance, yet
simple to use data management solution. ARCserve's new Graphical User
Interface presents a source and destination paradigm through an enterprise
view, which allows users to visualize their network and transfer data
between NetWare, DOS, Windows, OS/2, Macintosh and Unix nodes.

Significant enhancements in ARCserve Windows Edition include:

Parallel Streaming - This high performance function allows ARCserve to
perform concurrent operations on up to seven tape devices on a single SCSI
adapter, providing unprecedented throughput and performance. Multiple
backup and restore jobs can be scheduled to process simultaneously,
thereby dramatically expanding the throughput of the system and allowing
users to backup and restore greater amounts of data in less time.
Complementing ARCserve's Parallel Streaming technology is Tape Cascading,
which allows ARCserve to continue a backup operation on successive tape
drives when the first tape reaches capacity.

Intelligent Restore - By simply selecting the backup source from the
enterprise view, ARCserve Windows Edition uses its advanced database
feature to locate data for restoration. A sophisticated query facility and
the presentation of multiple backup versions allow users to easily select
data for restoration to an enterprise destination of their choice.

Product Line Integration - ARCserve Windows Edition incorporates access to
additional network services provided by Cheyenne. InocuLAN, Cheyenne's
enterprise-wide anti-virus software works in conjunction with ARCserve to
ensure that all backups are virus-free. FAXserve, Cheyenne's server-based
facsimile solution, provides the ability to send data management reports
to a destination of their choice.

Storage Management Services (SMS) - As a Novell Co-developer, Cheyenne
fully supports the SMS specification in ARCserve Windows Edition, enabling
users to backup Macintosh, OS/2 HPFS, Unix and FTAM name spaces on a
NetWare server.

ARCserve Windows Edition also provides Pre and Post Job options, allowing
the execution of commands at the server prior to or following ARCserve
operations, in order to customize data management job flow. For example,
users have the ability to make tape copies after a backup occurs, or
unload a specific NLM prior to backup, and reload that same NLM after job
completion.

In addition to local and remote NetWare servers, ARCserve backs up DOS,
OS/2 and Windows clients via agents supplied with the software. Macintosh
and Unix clients, as well as NetWare SQL, Btrieve and Oracle database
servers, may be backed up by using optional agents sold separately.
ARCserve supports most of the industry standard tape devices, including
optical, 4mm DAT, 8mm, QIC, stackers and autoloaders. All devices
certified for ARCserve 4.0 are compatible with ARCserve Windows Edition.

Note: Pricing varies between $395 and $2,395 depending on Windows or DOS
edition and numbers of users supported. Contact Cheyenne Software for
current pricing.

Current ARCserve 4.0 customers can upgrade to ARCserve Windows Edition at
no cost if ARCserve was purchased between March 15 and July 31, 1993.
Upgrades will be available to customers having purchased ARCserve 4.0
prior to March 15, 1993 for as little as $95, depending upon their NetWare
user level. For upgrade information, contact 800-370-8991 (U.S. and
Canada) or 716-871-6778.
